Home Extension Manual: The step-by-step guide to planning, building and managing a project (Haynes Manuals)

Good book, unnecessarily grubby tone.
Great book for an overview and helped us plan the project management of our build. My wife is running the project (we also have three daughters) and was not impressed by this laddish tone in this image. What’s the benefit? Can you only run a build if you go lap dancing?

Practical advice and a thorough step by step through the process
As you would expect from a Haynes manual, this is very practical with plenty of advice, pictures and take you step by step through the general process and each step in turn in more detail.I have quite a collection of the Haynes "house" manuals and my only comment (which is why it's 4 stars rather than 5) is that quite a bit of material is repeated in the various manual. Some cover certain aspects more extensively than others but the same info with the same pictures is a bit disappointing at times.I specifically bought this book to understand the best ways to "join" a modern extension to an old building and while it is covered, it's not in as much depth as I'd hoped. On this particular subject, I feel the book deals more with aesthetics than the precautions to take with different technologies of build in period homes compared with modern houses. Having said that, my understanding of the differences comes primarily from this range of manuals!!

not the best of the Haynes manuals
Basic and out of date, not the best of the Haynes manuals. This books simply doesn't cover modern ways of construction, like SIP or modular foundation.

Glad I bought it Useful and informative.
We have used this a lot as a source book, it is a bit more than an introduction and there is a lot of useful information. It could be read by the novice but also useful for those who are a bit further down the track but obviously it is not meant for the trade..Clearly set out.

Very Useful
I was having an extension built and this was just the job for understanding the stages, what was involved, what questions to ask and options that might be worth considering.

A detailed guide, useful for all irrespective of experience.
A gift for my son-in-law who is thinking of an extension, the book is very detailed and explains what is required and more importantly what the different build terms mean.
