EXCELLENT BRACE FOR BROKEN BONES IN HAND
I broke my right wrist in 3 different places. The navicular, the scaphoid and the metacarphal. I was in a hard cast for over 6 months and then several braces. I'm still having a lot of swelling and can't use or bend my thumb. I needed something would stabilize my thumb. I read each review of this brace. I bought it bc it was what i needed and this is what i found. The brace is PERFECT for my needs. As far as the complaints about the straps being too long, this is actually good bc you can adjust it to your needs and then simply cut off the excess which is what i did. Second complaint, the metal stabilizers are leaving indentations in my skin, i took out the metal rod in the thumb. I still wear the brace comfortably and even without the metal rod, my thumb is still comfortably stabilized and I'm unable to bend it, which is exactly what i needed. I accidentally left this brace at work over the weekend and was forced to wear the one my orthopedist gave me and i was surprised that i really missed this brace bc it helps so much more with the pain, and everything else. It is BY FAR, SO MUCH BETTER than the one that cost me over $100. Do yourself a favor and try this one. Worst case, return it if it's not for you. I was really close to not buying this one, bc of the reviews. THANK GOD I DID. :)

This is an update
I have reached out to Amazon to let them know my first order was an empty envelope. They have promptly reimbursed me and my new order has arrived. This brace is all it says it would be.

Great value, very sturdy, BUT not very comfortable
This is a good brace. It helped a lot with my de quervain's syndrome (thumb pain) because it immobilizes the thumb very well. It also goes down the wrist to the forearm pretty far for more immobilization. HOWEVER, there are metal bars that go down the sides that make it kind of uncomfortable. I spent a lot of time trying to mold these bars so that they are more comfortable, but they are very solid and hard to bend. I took one star off solely because of this, as the lack of comfort made it hard for me to want to keep wearing it. Finally, the position that it immobilizes your thumb in puts your thumb somewhat below the rest of your hand, which makes it impossible to type on a computer while wearing the brace.Pros:- Good build quality (sturdy)- Good value for money- Good thumb supportCons:- Metal bars make it uncomfortable- Metal bars are hard to mold to your thumb- Can't type with the brace on due to thumb position

perfect for tendonitis or DeQuervain's!!
i have DeQuervain's in right hand. my usual brace for flare ups was not working this time. i tried this brace at a reasonable cost and it is the best. easy to adjust and keeps me from using my thumb. i am right handed and i never realized how much i used my thumb. i had to adjust the metal bars for my wrist (not all wrists are the same) and it is great. the pain subsides quickly after putting this on. it has only been a week but i am seeing a lot of improvement in my wrist. Note: i did have to cut some length from the straps as they were really long.

I prefer my Mueller thumb stabilizers over this; but this is extremely restrictive and inhibits movement of thumb and wrist
I purchased this before I discovered the Mueller Sports Medicine Reversible Thumb Stabilizer of which I purchased four. After I had successful bi-lateral carpal tunnel surgery I developed some unusual and atypical hand problems (arthritis, cysts, finger disfiguration, etc.) and inflammation about one month after each surgery. One of those issues was trigger thumb in my right hand and partially in my left hand. My occupational therapist wanted me to immobilize my thumb and she made me a cast for my right thumb to sleep with at night along with my carpal tunnel braces. However, that kept falling off. Even though I since received a cortisone injection in my right thumb, I still needed a brace so that my thumb doesn't curl when sleeping.I ordered this a couple of weeks ago and while waiting for its delivery, I was exasperated with the pain and clicking of my right thumb, so I purchased one Mueller Sports Medicine Reversible Thumb Stabilizer at Walmart and three more of them on Amazon because I need to wear a brace on both hands day and night.Since my purchase, this brace arrived. Note that it is not reversible like the Mueller stabilizer which means I can only wear it on the right hand. It also can only be worn at night due to its inflexibility. It definitely helped stabilize my thumb during the night. In fact it is EXTREMELY restrictive compared to the Mueller. The Mueller can be worn throughout the day yet still stabilize the thumb.I also found this Therapist's Choice brace difficult to adjust because of all the Velcro straps that keep sticking while trying to readjust them. In addition, upon wake-up I had a V indentation in the V area at the base of my thumb and index finger from the seams inside this brace which took about 3 hours to disappear. Since it covers the wrist EXTREMELY WELL and has a bar inside, it also works as an EXCELLENT carpal tunnel brace but I don't find it really comfortable. There are four Velcro straps. One gets fastened around the thumb, one around the hand, and two around the wrist / arm.Overall, this is works well at night, but I prefer the Mueller to this one because the Mueller is easier to fasten, is reversible (meaning works on both left and right hand), can be worn during the day, and doesn't leave indentations on my hands like this one. Nevertheless, this is more restrictive and if that is what is wanted, it fits the bill perfectly.UPDATE Oct 13, 2016 - I've been using this for several weeks now on my right hand when I sleep. This gets 5 stars for being extremely restrictive and holding my thumb in place as well as wrist. I have been using a tissue in the area that gives me indentations from the seams and it's working fine. My preference, of course, is still the Mueller Sports Medicine Reversible Thumb Stabilizer but because I need more support in the evening on my right wrist / thumb, I have to use this instead.

Great but may cause numbing
It was very helpful my wrist and thumb we completely immobilized but after a while my thumb started going numb and was numb for a couple weeks after I took the brace off other than this everything worked perfectly

It works for me.
Just a quick review.I started having pain in my right wrist and thumb area. Even using a computer mouse is painful. The doctors took x-rays, but didn't see anything.I ordered this in. This brace relieved much of the pain due to it's support. It has support along it's length and in it's thumb.A specialist looked at my x-rays and noticed a tiny arthritic spur between the bones on my hand. He thinks that it will disappear with time. But this brace is perfect in the mean time.It works for me.
