Lighting's the key
I have been doing studio photography for years, some of it glamour. This series of books by Nigel Holmes is one of the best. One gets used to certain lighting set-ups that work consistently. Nigel shows how to get dramatic, punchy photographs and with minimal studio lighting equipment. In order to compete successfully, one has to have picutres that stand out from the same old tired and dated posing and lighting styles. Every picture is accompanied by a step-by-step photograh of the lighting setup plus the Photoshop enhancement that give them their zing. I've read many books on studio lighting and this is the best for glamour picture-making.

All you need to know to get results.
Glamour Photography Masterclasses 009 - 012 is the third in a series of glamour photography presented by Nigel Holmes. Step by step instructions of props and lighting show how anyone can achieve top results using items available to anyone at a fraction of the cost of "designer label" equipment. All you need on your part is imagination and drive as Nigel has clearly demonstrated in the literature. Also, check out the DVD series presented by Nigel as well.

Glamour Masterclass by Nigel Holmes
Have followed Nigel's work for many years and am always impressed by his use of simple lighting and sets to give outstanding results. The Masterclass series is very informative and should set your creativity going. How to get at least 3 different sets of pictures in an hour in a small space or using an everyday room and items is explained and can be easily copied. One light shots and how to control that light and shadow for different effects and moods is also explained. The ideas and set-ups apply to all types of people photography not just glamour, so a most useful series. It is a series that I keep using for reference and clients are always amazed with their pictures. Recommended.

Probably better as a web site
This is a book based on web-site glamour photo classes. The text is amusing and pleasant. And Nigel has a lot of good points. But it would probably work better on the web. Within the context of showing you how he built up specific photos and sets, he discusses some of the philosophy around it, so it's better than a simple cookbook. But those useful points are fairly buried and you need to read a lot of cookbook material that may or may not be useful to get to them.
