Can this be added to the diesel at any time or only when you fill up

According to the details on the label, you can add when the tank is low at a higher concentration to clean injectors etc. You can then use a lower concentration when you fill up to stabilise the diesel and increase cetane (sp?). It certainly cleared my injectors and the engine pulls far better than ever. Don't know what improvement you can expect on an engine that already runs ok though. Mine was belching reek at startup and running rough.

Suitable for bmw x1? do you pour the entire bottle in one go?

It is suitable for any diesel engine. You do do not use whole bottle. First application use 1ml per litre of diesel, subsequent applications use 1ml per 1.5 litre diesel.
