My son loves this toy. Makes a noise and has a torch and loves that it goes into two pieces. A favourite from Christmas toys!

Does not light up
Please note - the Luke Skywalker lightsabre does not light up unlike the others in the range. Really disappointed.Spent a while on Christmas day trying to work out why it wouldn't work but turns out it was a dud from the start! Buy a different one, don't waste your money.

Very cool lightsaber
This was a huge hit with my 8 year old son! It can retract somewhat, or you can take off the lightsaber part. It lights up and makes a great lightsaber noise and is easily turned back off.

Lighting and on/off instructions poor
This is Hasbro's official Forge Kyber Core Lightsaber. I ordered the Darth Vader variant which is in red.The Lightsaber came partially assembled and so I disassembled it for the pictures and to install 2 AAA batteries (not supplied) to test it.Assembly and disassembly is fairly easy by following the instructions which are pictorial only and could benefit from some further thought and possibly wording - especially around the on/off button functionality which appears to be somewhat random. I still haven't been able to work out how to cycle from on to off as it seems to take a number of presses. The power up sound is just like the movie and then there's motion activated sounds which really adds to the effect. The lighting is really disappointing. The core lights up well but there really isn't sufficient power to illuminate the "blade" properly. The pictures in the listing are a little misleading as they appear to show it well lit when the boy is holding it in a fighting stance - artistic use of photoshop perhaps? It's a shame because high power LEDs are inexpensive these days and this appears to use something akin to an incandescent! The base of the handle has a hollow and two clip points which are intriguing - almost like there could be an add on to go clip into place. The overall finish of the product isn't particularly detailed or of high quality with obvious seam lines and some plastic "splash" that hasn't been cleaned up. That said this is a toy and priced accordingly rather than a collector piece.I think your young Star Wars fan will love it.

Star Wars Lightsaber Darth Vader
This product was sent to me for review, as part of Amazon Vine. The below is my own real-world experience of using it.It is a good quality, and really fun toy to play with - the lights and sounds are as realistic as you might expect, with some interesting extra features, such as the holographic-type effect that is beamed from the end of the lightsaber, and shows up on the wall. When needed, it is easy to dismantle the saber, both for storage and customisation - each piece has a notch that clicks into place, creating a 'button', with which it can be removed again. In summary, a good value item.
