Gallagher G380504 M300 Fencer, 110-volt

I bought this thing to keep bears from attacking my beehives. AGAIN! :-) So far, so good. But here's something you should know. This is not a waterproof solar unit, so what I did was run an extension cord out to my hives to power the charger. I wrapped the charger in a fairly thick clear plastic bag and ran the power cord and wire leads out through the sides of the bag while taking care to position the cords so that rain would not drip downward; all wires exit the bag that way. We have had very heavy storms and over 8 inches of rain here in western Oregon in the first 7 days of December, 2015 and the unit is dry. I duct taped the bagged charger to a small board suspended across two plastic saw horses. I don't have enough sun to go with solar, so this is what I had to settle for. And it works great!

It came quick and packed well.On to the performance. This thing is a beast! Ive got it hooked up to about 100ft of underground wiring which it connected to 2,000 feet of hotwire. The grounding is one 3ft rod and a 5ft rod fully burried. They're in constantly wet areas so I figured the power would transfer just fine.And boy does it! After setting it up with a friend, and turning it on, it only took a few seconds to find where the shorts were - mainly from loud popping.As for how well it works, I can tell you from fit hand experience it is excruciatingly painful. I had no shoes on and my hand on our metal fence. Right about then my shin hit the hot wire. A searing jolt of ran through my entire body and straightened me right out. I was mid sentence with my neighbor and my jaw just slammed shut. He busted out laughing and asked what happened.This fence is rediculous. It'll keep your dogs, cat, and pet wilderbeasts in without much effort. It doesn't seem to be affected by a lot of grass either - it just keep pulsing.It does pulse though. About every 3/4 of a second. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a hotwire fence. From small to large, this thing will work most likely for you.Great flipping product.

I have had it In use for about a month now to keep pigs in and it works fine. The pigs touched the wire once and after that they stay away from the fence. I have not had an electric fence in about 25 years so I had asked my neighbor who run cattle what they thought and both had Gallagher chargers. We live in a very arid area and grounding is a problem since there is no moisture in the ground but I used 2 ground rods about 5 feet deep and it works. The instructions say to put the ground rods in an area that's always damp. To do that I would have to move, but in spite of the lack of moisture it works.

Great charger for my garden, chickens and beehives. Delivers a lot of voltage. Chickens, dogs, foxes and even bears respect this charger. I owned one and bought a second. I love the vertical light display, lets me know at a distance if the charger is plugged in. Even in dry soil conditions, the charger fully delivers the maximum voltage into the green zone. I fully recommend.

Used for about 2 years, it worked great. Then it became real weak, had to replace. I think it should have lasted much longer.

So Far it is working great, no complaints. Fast shipping, good packaging. ( Just wish the fence would have been as easy to install though , lol

Well packaged, bright easy to see status lights. Accidentally got into the hot fence..... yes it will turn cattle, almost put me on my knees. Great product.

We've tried at least a half-dozen different fence chargers, and this is the only one that keeps wayward cattle inside. We're running it on a large pasture of barbed wire through woods and on hilly terrain, and nothing seems to impede the strong charge. It used to be a once a week chore to go fix the shorts with the cheaper chargers, but this one is still strong after 365 days of frigid Vermont temps and rugged terrain. Well worth the money.
