Hands down the best EDC utility knife I’ve ever owned. I’ve carried some kind of knife since childhood, and I’m 51 years old now. After using this one, I immediately ordered three more. The build quality feels truly premium — like if BMW or Mercedes-Benz made a utility knife. It’s lightweight, extremely smooth to operate, and feels very well engineered. One of my favorite features is how much of the blade is exposed, making it much more functional and practical for everyday use. If you’re looking for a solid EDC knife, you’ve found it. Blade changes are simple and take about 60 seconds using a single screw. Once installed, the blade feels very solid and secure with virtually no play.

I use this utility knife every day at work, multiple times a day. After over a year of use, it's still clicky and satisfying to open and close. There is still zero side to side movement between the blade and handle. The pocket clip got bent badly after getting hooked on something as I walked by, but was able to bend back and is still working fine. I've gone through over 6 packs of blades. I've lost one clip screw and one of the blade holding screws, but it came with a spare. It's easy to clean and change the blades out. I have zero complaints about this knife. I love the giant blade you get while still being replaceable (a must when cutting through cardboard all day). While changing the blade today I realized what an amazing knife this has been and I just had to leave a review.

I actually love this. I’m not a huge pocket knife fan so I really need to see the value before I’ll pay $40 for a utility cutter and this is.. nice. It looks cool, the finish on the plastic is super smooth. It opens super easy and the closing is just as smooth.. I guess the only improvement would either be a different locking mechanism to change the blade or at least some sort of stored key inside the handle. Not a huge deal to me I have plenty of them at home and would only change it at home.. I don’t carry box cutter blades around with me so I don’t & couldn’t even change it on the go if I wanted to. But it would still be a little easier. Ordered SK2H blades in black to go with this black cutter and it’s gonna look nicceeee. I may actually keep this.

I really love this knife. I carry a knife every day and use it constantly - for opening Amazon packages, gardening, and cutting rope. In the past, I always hesitated to hand my knife to my wife, since she’s been known to run it through dirt, scrape it against metal or cut tons of cardboard, leaving me to sharpen the blade afterward. And yes, she’s done all of that. With this knife, I don’t have to worry. I can simply swap out the blade for a 15-cent SK2H razor. The action is smooth and easy, the knife is lightweight yet solidly built, and it feels great in hand. Perfect size for edc. It can be opened with a single hand - with either you thumb or index finger. My only gripe is that a tool is required to replace the blade. I have other razor knives that allow tool-free changes while still holding the blade securely. If this knife had that feature, it would be perfect. It requires at Torx T8.

Excellent knife for all sorts of applications. I would treat this like a pocket knife and not a utility blade since it has no inherent safety features. Use at your own risk I suppose. Swapping blades is real easy with the included key and negates need for sharpening. The clip is a good size and sits nice and deep in the pocket.

I always have a couple of box cutters floating around and this is another great addition to the couple I have. Civivi folders are second to none and this one is no different, even if the blade is replaceable. The action is smooth and fast, with a reliable and satisfying lock. My only gripe about this design is that I wish there was an option for the blade to be less exposed. I realize that this is all personal preference due to technique, but I generally only use about 25% of the blade in my daily box cutting routines. Despite this, it's still a fantastic piece of kit. I saw a video on YouTube of this knife and it looked really neat. The over all idea is really cool, it's a utility knife built like a pocket knife. The build quality is pretty good, the fit and finish are great, and over all it seems like CIVIVI put a lot into this product. Unfortunately there are a few areas where the functionality of the knife aren't quite where they need to be, which puts this tool in a sort of "cool for my collection, but not something I would use often" category. Pros: - Fit and finish are great - The blade is mostly exposed when open offering a much larger cutting edge than most utility knives while still using the standard utility blade. - The blade has no play in it when locked offering a more stable cutting experience than other utility knives. - This knife is "muggle safe", there are no springs and no confusing mechanisms that would trip up someone unfamiliar with the tool if you handed it to them. - Very deep carry pocket clip - Compact formfactor - Smooth mechanism Cons: - The screw used to retain the blade is why there isn't any play like other utility knives, however this is only true if you tighten it down really hard. I had the blade fly out on me once because I didn't re-tighten it super tight. There is nothing else retaining the blade than that one screw, and typical opening means it's moving with a lot of force so the risk of it flying out isn't great. - The screw also makes changing the blade annoying, you need a T8 driver to do it while normal utility blades typically can be changed using a button release. - The mechanism is smooth for the most part, but the bearing pivot is almost made pointless by the fact that the locking mechanism is rubbing against it all the time. If you aren't holding down the button, you're basically getting the same experience a normal pivot. - The button is too small, and too recessed making unlocking a bit hard and holding it unlocked annoying. The spring tension on it also feel too high for the surface area you have to push on. - The knife rarely locks nicely when closed, trying to flip it shut almost always results in it "bouncing" back open slightly and stopping partially open requiring additional action to close it fully. This is both annoying, and could at times pose a safety risk. The detent (which is provided by the locking mechanism) simply isn't strong enough at the fully closed position to prevent it from popping back open. - Subjectively, the sound/feel of the knife when opening and closing it isn't particularly good. The biggest of the problems is the locking mechanism. The lock is too difficult to disengage both in terms of fore required, and applying that force in the proper location. This from a combination of spring force, size of the button, and the shape/depth of the recess it is in. Compared to something like the Milwaukee Fastback which has a similar mechanism but can be unlocked much more easily allowing for a wrist-flick opening and closing that works very well. The button causes frustration because if you don't manage to hold it firmly the knife will unlock but stop before fully closing and if you hold it too firmly it won't lock at all when the blade reaches the closed position and the blade will "bounce" back out and get stuck partially open. In other words, you have to have the perfect touch and technique to get the knife to fully close in one try. Given the way the lock mechanism works, the pivot is only truly free when the locking button is depressed fully, at any other time the locking pin will put some resistance on the pivot. The problem is that it is kind of difficult to get the lock fully disengaged, and being even slightly engaged slows the pivot substantially. Because of this, you need to hold the button very firmly to get the blade to shut fully, but you need to release at the very last moment in order to arrest the blade movement right at the point where it is closed and before it rebounds and begins to open again. Timing this is possible, but tricky. It's the sort of thing you can sit there fidgeting with and do reliably, but the first time you pull out the knife to actually use for something then go to put it away, you aren't going to perform it just right and it will be annoying. Over all I really want to like this knife. It has a very premium over all feel, and I like the concept. The mechanism is just sadly frustrating and in some ways a bit dangerous. I haven't decided if I will keep it or return it yet, it definitely won't be something I carry around if I do keep it though.
