Expected better
A well presented book. Lots of nice recipes. I cannot really fault the book. However, given that it was written by a top Chef of a highly touted and acclaimed restaurant(s), I had expected something better. If I didn't have so many other Asian cookbooks that I think are better both visually and most important with regard to the recipes as comparison, I might have given it higher marks.This book just does not stack up when compared to ones like "Alinea" or "Pier" or at least 15 others I could list (those two are just the first that came to mind). I am sure you will be happy with the recipes - they look good, but nothing much different. If you only have a few cookbooks, I am sure you will be happy with this. It is not overpriced. But there are a number of other cookbooks out there that are much much better - I'm not talking about the pure food/recipes (at this level of chef one would hope that that is a given at being top level), but in the presentation and look of the book itself, the presentation of the individual recipes, etc. Leafing through the book, it just did not generate a feeling of excitment (at least not in me), where I would think - wow, have got to try making that (I usually put post-it-notes in the pages of recipes I want to definitely try (some real high end books come with ribbons for page markers).Hope this helps.I have sent this one back for a refund as I would rather spend the money on a better book. There are better ones out there that are same price or less.
