Just bought another for my kid!
I had a Kobo Clara Color, and just ordered this and passed off my color to my kid. I love these e-readers! The fact that I can check out library books directly on the device though Libby/Overdrive is amazing. They're also working on being able to buy ebooks through bookshop.org so I can support my local bookstore, which I'm really looking forward to. As far as actual use, this is everything I want. Simple, functional, and much lighter than carrying a pile of books with me. Plus better for my eyes and headaches than reading books on my phone, and I don't find myself getting distracted by all the other things on my phone. I can't recommend this highly enough. Only issue I've had is it freezes up every couple days and needs a hard reset, holding down the power button (the ink screen won't change) then turning it back on. I figure any device needs to actually be turned off instead of just sleeping occasionally. And it's never been an issue resetting it. The BW also freezes a bit less often than the color, and loads a bit faster. The color is fast enough for my kid who likes to zoom in while reading graphic novels, though. Battery lasts almost forever if not back lit. I leave it on as low of brightness as I can manage with the sliding bar, usually 2-3%, and that gets me at least a few days of reading between charges, usually not like a week or two, and I don't have to think about adjusting the brightness to read at night. I got both myself and my kiddo a sleep/wake case, which works great. Definitely prefer this over a Kindle.

So far it's lovely
Had it for a week. Very good. Great battery life so far. It has ghosting, which is when a previous screen can be seen in the background, but personally I don't mind it. The reload and page turns are fast. Except when it comes to typing. The screen is crisp and easy to read for its size. I made some personal adjustments to the text so it's more pleasing to my eye. This is a more expensive purchase for me, but I feel like it is a good investment as it's helped me read more.

perfect lightweight ereader with fantastic screen
I absolutely love the Kobo Clara BW. The 6-inch screen is incredibly sharp, and the glare-free display makes it feel just like reading actual paper, even in direct sunlight. It is extremely lightweight and comfortable to hold for hours, and the battery life is insane—it seriously feels like it lasts almost forever on a single charge. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to sideload and add my own books directly onto the device without any hassle. Something that I cannot do with my Kindle. The ComfortLight PRO is also a game-changer for night reading, automatically shifting to a warmer tone so it doesn't strain my eyes. If you want a dedicated, distraction-free reading experience, this is easily one of the best options out there.

Love it!
My first e-reader! No forced ads, waterproof, warm light and dark mode options, ability to adjust brightness by dragging finger up the margins of the page, syncs to Libby app for library reading, reading syncs to storygraph app. Perfect portable size and very easy to set up and use. It's so much easier on my eyes than a phone screen. The screen is not as responsive as a phone, but it only takes a second to load the next page and doesn't feel laggy once you get used to it. Very happy with my purchase!

This Kobo Clara makes reading a pleasure!
I love my new Kobo Clara black & white! I was a hold out pgetting an ereader for a very long time. I love the feel of a book in my hand, turning the pages and putting a bookmark in to hold my place. I finally became convinced to try one. Then, I couldn’t decide if I wanted the Kindle Paper White or the Kobo. After watching/reading many videos/reviews, I finally chose the Kobo and I’m very pleased with it. First, I have arthritis issues in my fingers/hands. Holding this ereader is so comfortable and easier than a physical book. It’s lightweight and small enough to hold in one hand…..a big help when my hands are in pain! Second, I thought it would be a pain turning the page and waiting for the next page to appear. Not so. It’s very quick. Almost seamless imo. It really makes the experience of reading smooth. Additionally, you can change font and size. Lastly, I don’t disturb my husband who is usually trying to sleep when I’m reading.🙄 You can adjust the light and I have mine set to darken at night. Still easy to read in the night mode. Since I have the black and white version, there is no color. I don’t read children’s books on it or comic books so I didn’t feel I needed that. I don’t care if the cover is in black and white. If you do read children’s books or comic books and you like to see the covers of your books in color, then maybe the color versions would be something you may want. I took a picture of it below with the Kobo inside a case I also purchased from Amazon. I love this and the case. Its perfect for me and I’m very happy with my choice! Happy reading everyone!

It's almost perfect! Page turning issue is annoying.
It's such a pleasure to use, and I'm enjoying reading more than ever (getting through books a lot faster, too). It's nice to have a distraction-free device that does not strain my fifty-something year-old eyes. That said, there is one annoyance that I can't figure out. I've noticed that the page turn function will briefly stop working every several pages. I'm reading and tapping away, then the tap won't turn the page. I tap it again and the Clara BW will turn two pages instead of one, meaning I have to tap the other side to get back to the skipped page. The same thing happens when swiping. This is happening with different books, which are EPUBs sideloaded through Calibre. I've tried having Calibre convert to KEPUBs (Kobo-friendly version) before sending to the Kobo, and also just sending the EPUB and having the Clara BW convert it. No luck. It doesn't seem like a hardware issue because the screen is perfectly responsive when navigating menus, etc. I've discovered on various Kobo forums that the page turning issue is a common problem. Kobo has yet to address it. My workaround when a page is stuck is to tap briefly in the center, which brings up the UI without skipping the pages. It's annoying either way. I understand that some users like to load up another interface called Koreader. That's not an option for me, because I don't want to spend ages customizing its ugly interface to something comparable to the aesthetically-pleasing Kobo UI. Less is more! I just want it to work. This device is otherwise perfect, and if I can figure this out, it will easily be the best purchase I've made in ages.

E-reader hater forever changed.
I have been anti-ereader as long as I can remember. I refused to get a Kindle that was locked into Amazon's system with limited use. Kobo has changed my views! I wish I would have found them and purchased one sooner! The set up and integration with my library via overdrive/Libby took me less than 10 minutes. I've had it for over a month, used every night, and just had to charge it, so the battery life is outstanding! I've been able to carry it with to multiple appointments and my office since it's so small. The reaction on the touch screen is great too- I love being able to tap or swipe. Another thing I love is that I can touch a word and the definition pops up (as long as you are connected to wifi). Another HUGE perk to me is the lighting. I have it set to turn from a white screen to more of a yellow screen around 9pm and oh my gosh it's life changing. I also love how fast it changes the brightness as I'm adjusting instead of lagging. I highly highly recommend getting this if you want a reliable device or are dipping your toes into ereaders! I was able to find an off brand cover for under $10 that covers it when I'm not reading too!

The BEST
I love my kobo. Got it for myself as an early birthday gift and couldn't be happier. It's a great size, has a great battery life (I got it 2 weeks ago and it's still on 80% off a single charge and I read every night), can use your library card to borrow books, easy to use and settings are customizable. My favorite thing is the reading stats it generates automatically. I'm switching from the k*ndle paper white and truthfully haven't picked it up since. So happy I went with kobo when hunting for a new ereader

Maravilloso
