Very nice laptop!
I bought this laptop back in October of 2024 - waited awhile to see how it would go before I left a review.I'm an Apple guy so I was a little nervous going back to Windows. This laptop is very nice. Windows 11 is very nice also. Windows supplies its office suite as a test drive with limited time before they want you sign up for longer periods of time. I'll probably just buy the 1 time deal for 150.00 and then I'll have what I need. I really don't need the 365 suite. The screen is very bright and does not disappoint. It's very crisp with excellent detail and colors and is 18". I have not noticed any backlight bleed whatsoever. I only had 16" on my MacBook Pro. The screen size was a major reason why I wanted this laptop. The keyboard is backlit and you can change the color to whatever color you want the back light to be. It mainly sits on my desk. I moved it upstairs the other day for a bit on the battery. Battery life is not Apple battery life. It drains fairly quickly compared to my older MacBook Pro, but I'm not travelling with it much and it sits primarily on my desk. The power supply is rather large for it.Some people were complaining about the fans being too loud. Well, its a gaming laptop and some fan noise is expected. If I were a gamer the fans would be louder I'm sure, but I'm only using it for daily activities and I can here the fans but I'm not bothered by them as they are fairly quiet. The fans are adjustable via the Predator software they provide with the laptop.McAffee suite comes with it as a trial. The laptop is quick, grant you I'm not pushing to hard, but I have noticed no waiting when it comes to using it, so the processor speed and memory are fine for me. I do watch movies on it and the 18" screen is exceptional. All in all I'm very pleased with it. My only complaint is that at first the trackpad was a bit touchy. There is however an adjustment for this in Windows 11 to adjust the sensitivity. I noticed it's on sale for Black Friday that is a better deal than what I paid for it by probably 100 bucks or so back in October. If you want a big laptop, just buy it - you won't be disappointed.

fast, quiet, beautiful screen, great sound
This is the 4th Acer Predator Helios laptop that I've owned. Last year I took a break from Acer and bought a Gigabyte G6 KF laptop because it was on sale for a bargain price. It was a monumental mistake. I had nothing but trouble with it since I took it out of the box. Thankfully, 12 months later the Gigabyte put me out of my misery by completely dying. Hooray! Luckily, I found this Acer Predator on sale and I scooped it up. It comes nicely equipped with a bright and colorful 16" 165 hz screen that is 100% sRBG and G-sync compatible. The screen has ZERO backlight bleed. Awesome! The included Acer performance software is simple to use and is available at the press of a button. The keyboard features programmable RGB lighting and the keys are very comfortable. The laptop's fans, which can also be programmed, are silent when not gaming, and even with extreme gaming never sound like a jet taking off. Also, the laptop remains surprisingly cool while gaming. The sound that comes from this laptop's speakers is loud and pleasant sounding. This particular laptop comes with 16GB of DDR5 ram and only a 512gb SSD drive so be prepared to purchase whatever extra ram and storage space that you feel necessary. It is equipped with an RTX 4060 8gb GPU and a Core i7-13th gen Intel CPU which makes it quite a good laptop for gaming. The current sale price of this Acer Helios is hundreds less than similar MSI, Gigabyte, and ASUS laptops and makes it a fantastic value. The hinge on this laptop is quite study and there is very little screen flex. The entire build quality of the laptop is exceptional. It comes paired with a very adequate power supply and offers plenty of various ports. After my terrible Gigabyte experience, I'm very happy to own another Acer Predator Helios. It feels like coming home. I will never stray again. I 100% recommend this fine gaming laptop.

It's fine.
So far this computer has been good. I''ve played Doom Eternal and I am now playing Cyberpunk 2077 on it. The games look great and run well. It's a decently solid machine. I added 2 additional hard drives to it. I did not like how the casing comes apart to add the hard drives. It felt like very delicate procedure designed to break the casing. I got it done without breaking anything, but definitely watch videos on how to do it before you try. The bios is odd, I want to figure out how to set one of the added hard drives as bootable, but the bios doesn't seem to want me to do that...says something about window boot manager?. I would prefer the old c, d, f, g or whatever it used to be. Sometimes a guy just wants to set the boot order to 1st a non-bootable drive, then another non-bootable drive and then the bootable drive....actually I wanted to figure out if I could load win 10 on another drive and boot to it so I could run some older firewire audio hardware that doesnt support win 11. Guess that I may be too old or not motivated enough to figure it out. Speakers are tinney but ok. Good ports. Keyboard is ok. Sometimes computer is a bit wonky, locks up on weird stuff or won't boot a game, but I just restart it and everything is fine. The price was good. I am not sure why amazon thinks this thing has a touch screen. It doesn't. I just touched it and it didn't do anything.
