This is a very simple method of creating blackout compared to say a roller blind, and it does the job very well - basically one attaches self-adhesive Velcro tape to the window frame or surround, and the supplied fabric sticks to it wherever it makes contact. The manufacturer recommends a big overlap of fabric beyond the Velcro strip, and this is needed, partly because the strip itself is translucent and therefore has to be completely covered to create the blackout effect. The fabric is certainly completely light-proof, and for me this has provided a very good solution for a large French window in a bedroom. I don't know yet if the fabric and the tape will wear well, but I don't see why not.

A bit expensive, but the performance is perfect. You can virtually achieve 100% darkness with no light whatsoever penetrating through the sides. The velcro that comes with the blinds is strong and durable.I've bought these for all bedrooms in the house, they're not the most eye pleasing thing to see, but they truly transformed everyone's sleep.The only minus is that it's a bit awkward to roll them up and put them in place with magnetic ties, it's an annoying thing to do, but you get used to it.

This has made such a difference. Keeps the sun out, helps keep the heat down. Ok rooms are darker during the day but worth it. So easy to install and to put away. Ended up buying more of them.

It works

These are really good to keep a bedroom dark. I still get a bit of light on the sides but not much, so I use it with black out curtains and my baby’s bedroom is very dark. I love it, especially as it is easy to install and remove. I stick the velcro on the glass and not on the frame though, as I know from a previous experience that the glue from the velcro will come off the day I don’t need it anymore. Not sure it would come off if the velcro had been applied directly on the window plastic frame though.

I’d tried a myriad of different blackout blinds and techniques for my toddler’s bedroom before coming across this one — total game-changer! Really easy to install and achieves a genuine total blackout, even in the summer when it’s bright from early til late.Adhesion so far seems very good, I stuck the velcro up around the UVPC window frame and left it to stick for 24hrs as per instructions before adding the blind to it. Easy to take off and put back on as well to let sunlight in during the day but get a quick blackout again at naptime and bedtime.Love this product and will definitely buy one for our next baby’s bedroom when the time comes as well.

Really easy to install, just make sure you clean and dry the surface well before applying the Velcro strips. The room is totally pitch black, which is great for our newborn’s sleep environment
