We sprinkled some tuna skins on the mat, and Creamsicle spent several minutes rummaging through the mat and eating the snack. The thing is designed to make dogs do a bit of work to get the snack, rather than just wolfing the food down in one bite. It's an interesting idea --I think it will keep my dog from getting lazy.While watching my dog eat the snacks and rummage through the mat, I wondered, "Is this how dogs used to search for food in the wild?? How cool!"The mat looks comfortable enough for my dog to rest on when she's bored too. I think she will enjoy this quite a lot. The price is also very good --I see other mats on the market for 2X the price but they don't seem to be significantly better than this one. Quality is great! Just get it and see what your dog thinks about it. It's a fun little gift, just makes you happy to watch doggy do silly dog things.

I bought this snuffle mat after watching kikopup videos on youtube. I've been training my puppy with it for a couple months now and her recall is just about impeccable. The way to train great recalls with your dog is to put some food in the mat, let the dog sniff and eat, then call her over and reward with higher value treats. Feed a few of the high value treats, then immediately release the dog back to the snuffle mat. This way the dog learns that when they come to you, they get rewarded and are also allowed to go back to what they were originally interested in --- this is the important part. Then when you're recalling the dog at the park, she will come back to you even while playing with other dogs. My dog now comes to me immediately every time I call her. I highly recommend watching kikopup's videos on youtube for great dog training tips.

When I ordered the Snuffle Mat, I thought it would help keep my Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix (mostly Jack Russell) entertained and occupied, and it does. I hide several treats in it and she has to find them. Thing is, it has become like a special "friend" to her. She hauls it up on the couch with her and lays on it, and she'll lay on it when she's chewing on her favorite bone. She tosses it into the air and catches it (no easy feat since she's a small dog). The mat is well made, has a non-skid back so it doesn't slide around on the floor when my dog is nosing through it, and the "strings" are dense, so it's easy to hide treats. If it can keep a Jack Russell entertained, it can keep any dog interested and challenged. Shipping was fast - I received the item much sooner than expected. Easy to pack, I just roll it up and stuff it in her backpack.

I have tried several things to slow down my Frenchie puppy when he eats. Regular bowl, about a minute. Bowl with grooves to slow him down, about 3 minutes to eat all of his food. I tried using a muffin tin as well. This mat is AWESOME!!! Just what he needed. Now it takes him about 15 to 20 minutes to find all of the food!!!

Herbie, my orange tabby cat, is a big fan of his new snuffle mat! I purchased the mat as a way to leave treats out when I go, and for him to find them when he's ready. His little nose has to hunt for a bit, but when he finds them his purr starts up and he hunts for another. We haven't tried it at feeding time - but if his vet says he needs to slim down (again) we will! I bought this for my dog who has issues eating too fast and then getting sick an hour or so later. He scarfs his food down so quick he gets sick and pukes everywhere. I got the product fairly quickly and is very easy to use. It took him a few minute to get the concept and try to hunt for the food but I was amazed at how better he felt after eating just in a few days. I would definitely recommend to any dog owner who has a dog who seems to have the same problem! I am also very pleased with the quality of the product which seems to be quite durable. Would buy again!

We have been using the snuffle mat for our pup Riley during her feeds to slow her down since she’s a super fast eater and it worked! She now takes about 5 minutes to eat her dinner rather than under a minute! We also have used it to hide treats in and it keeps her busy for a few minutes trying to find all the treats! She really enjoys it and I like that I am able to throw it in the washer machine when it gets dirty! Would definitely recommend!

I have a cockapoo. It's small enough to fit in his kennel, but big enough to hold several handfuls of kibble/treats. This mat keeps him occupied for a good while and if I leave it down he comes back later to sniff around some more to see if he can find any leftover kibble. He rips everything to shreds: his bed, any toy, the liner to cover his kennel, but so far he hasn't destroyed this! It's awesome!
