Frank Skinner - The Complete Collection [DVD]

A very long career in comedy, with a change in style noted in the last 2
Frank Skinner is almost a national treasure now, but the first few DVDs wouldn't give a hint to that, as his cheeky chappy crudeness and rudeness are to the fore, and only in the last couple of DVDs do we say the more friendly character emerging. All topics are covered, and it's great to have a good laugh in all these shows, with very few jokes or references coming between the shows, so he's obviously a talented and prolific writer too.As with all these types of things, some of the cultural references date a bit this far on, but it's a good collection for a fan of comedy to see, and the technique of stand up is one to watch for people who fancy trying this as a career themselves.

6 great shows for the master of the stand up
A dvd collection of 6 live 'stand up' shows covering 20 years from the fantastic Frank Skinner. Admittedly this collection is just one show more from the previous 'live collection' released a few years ago, so if you have that already you're more likely going to want to just buy the new 'Man in a Suit' live show on its own, however, as a release of shows this is a great collection. From the first live tour in 1992 and other 90s shows, onto the 2008 show after 10 years break and the previously mentioned 2014 show. Skinner himself has become a national treasure, not just for his stand up routines but as a TV presenter on shows such as Skinner and Baddiel, Fantasy Football, The Frank Skinner Show and, more recently, Room 101.The Skinner from the first show has definitley aged and got slower by the time the Skinner from the last show is on stage, but he can still have me in fits of laughter. The last show certainly seems out of place with the previous 5 having a very 'blue' tone - specifically the 2008 one which is the poorest of them all but has the fantastic 'Osama Bin Laden' ukulele song at the end to save it!If you don't like Skinner then there's nothing to see here, and if you expect to see the rather genial middle age presenter of Room 101 here too then this may surprise you, but if you're a fan of great stand up and a bit of cheeky 'laddish' humour then this is a must own.
