Short review: read it!James Patterson is a must read author. MEasy to follow stand-alone. No editing errors, gratuitous violence or drag-you-down drama.Compelling storyline with plenty of suspects and surprising twists at the end. Descriptive, informative writing that draws the reader into each scene. Realistic procedures, actions and reactions, especially the tunnel vision of police and DA. Believable characters with distinct personalities and great dialogue.No desire to re-read this story. I am always interested in works by this author.

The #1 Lawyer is a murder book but not in the traditional Patterson style. The lead character is the victim of a cover-up. There are lots of bodies along the way. It’s a fast read and would be a great book for the beach. Has a few too many coincidental to make the plot come together to make it a great book but it’s a good book. Like all Patterson books, short chapters, short sentences move the reading along easily.

So many layers to this story, great characters and multiple surprises. I think I’ve read every John Grisham book and the last few have left me sadly disappointed. The #1 Lawyer was so good, no disappointment at all. I hope they write more books like this one!

James Patterson never disappoints. I've been reading his books for years and always enjoy the twists and turns of the plots. I don't know how he continually manages to keep the reader engaged without becoming a same old, same old author. I especially like the short chapters, for me, keeping up the interest and knowing the next chapter is where I start the next time I pick up the book. I especially liked the Southern twang of this story, very entertaining.

As always, a Patterson story is a keeper. Stafford Lee is a bit of a conundrum, but that’s what makes the character interesting. Yes, he’s a good lawyer, but his PI Jenny is the real hero here. She’s smart, canny, effective, and dogged in her pursuit of truth. It’s a tightly woven, intricate story that readers will surely enjoy.

Loved the characters. Wonderful settings and surprises at every turn. I did not like the missing events. I realize if the author didn’t, book would be too long. Just felt like I kept missing events. But good read.

Kept me interested content was not fast or exciting but story was good

Good story, good character development, a few twists and turns, enjoyable

One character goes from successful lawyer, to drunk, arrested for vagrancy, goes to rehab, becomes lifeguard, accused of murdering a mysterious lady from his past, to an accused serial killer, to exonerated but betrayed by his best friend in 432 pages, you are in for a rollercoaster. Of course there are a host of other characters with equally convoluted adventures. A real page turner.

Typical James Patterson. A story with strong vulnerable characters who are real, flaws and strengths. The plot weaves through in a twisted way where you find yourself supporting some of the characters in some chapters and then finding their true colours in others. The same applies to the seemingly baddies. Riveting from the first words to the last.

Slow starting book for me but as it goes on it makes sense as you become to know the characters. Very good with some fantastic twists in the story. Well worth a read.

I didn't know much about the storyline . It rampt up slowly, but many twists and turns. Keeps going strong until the very end. One his best👌 .
