Good for making RV cords as long as you weather seal it
So far I have bought 3 of them. I used them to make custom cords for my 30 amp campervan. Nema L530R to nema 5 15 so I can plug my van into a regular outlet without an adapter. I have made 3 cords so far. One stays plugged in at home, the other stays plugged in at my dad's RV (for the van, not his RV) and the 3rd stays under my driver's seat for when I'm at friends or family members house and need to plug in. (My camper van is my daily driver so I'm constantly plugging in at many different locations) out of the box, the connection is not weather proof. To seal it I put a dab of flex shot on each screw terminal before closing the plug, but after connecting the wires to the terminas. Caulking the screws before connecting the wires would make for a very poor electrical connection in addition to making a mess so don't do that! Then I closed the plug letting the excess come out of the crack. Then I ran my finger around the seam to smear the excess into the crack. I also completely filled the back of the plug with flex shot. After the caulk sets the connection is weatherproof. The connection on my van, and most RVs is recessed so that provides some weather resistance to the actual electrical connecting point. As for physical build quality it seems fine. I've read that other reviewers have found this particular connector to be cheaply built but I think it will hold up just fine as long as you don't abuse it. If you are going to use this to make an RV adaptor cord to step down to a regular outlet, I recommend 12 AWG wire so you can pull the full rating of the circuit you plug it into, 15 or 20 amps. I was recently isolating from the rest of my household in my campervan because I'd been exposed to COVID. I was on a dedicated 20 amp circuit using a 12 AWG cable and was drawing over 2000 watts at times with no issues. I was able to run my refrigerator (mini fridge), lights, TV, 8kbtu window air conditioner (yes, I put a window air conditioner in the front window of my van because it was flipping hot! It was ghetto but it worked), and 700w microwave all at once on a 20 amp circuit with ZERO PROBLEMS. this would have probably melted cheap hockey puck style RV step down adaptors! My custon cable with this nema 530R connector barely even noticed!
