Bottom of the cups is slightly flat as it would have to be for resting on the hob. I used this on glass ceramic hob. One needs to heat this throughly at low heat (3-4 on 9 scale for me) for a while before starting to make the dish. The centre cup gets slightly hotter than the outer ones but that's not a problem - just turn it quicker and remove it sooner than the others.
