Soft pastel paper
This was purchased for my soft pastel learning journey. I bought this larger sized pad to do big projects and also to cut down for smaller ones...for this it's a great value! Quality & thickness was what I was expecting. The paper is smooth. Really good for my work.

Sturdy tooth, top quality
This is a go-to paper for me. I love working in charcoal and this has an excellent tooth, which is valuable in three ways.1. It can hold a large build-up of charcoal for getting extremely deep, dark shadows.2. It can stand a lot of reworking and erasing without showing any damage or unwanted texture in the final work. That's hard with charcoal.3. It can handle a lot of blending and rubbing without loosing its texture and ability to hold charcoal.I go through this pretty quickly. It's a favorite. This is the one most commonly recommended by teachers I've studied under, justifiably so. As one teacher said, you don't want to fight the materials. If you give 100% effort to a material that can only give you 85%, you'll only get 85% results. Go with quality. This is going to give you 100%.

This is the paper!
If you take working in charcoal seriously, this is some excellent paper. The tooth and feel feedback is amazing. You can rework areas of your drawings and fine tune without worry of dramatic wear. However, if you go deep and heavy, you will have trouble reworking, so make certain on your final marks.I'm still exploring Strathmore's product line, but I try to purchase the best I can find when it comes to art paper. So far they are the "go to" company for this.

Good tooth
Holds the charcoal or pastel work long enough before fixative is applied. Very large! Good brand of paper.

spine fell apart as soon as I got it
when it first arrived I pulled it out of the box and the sheets fell out of the pad and slid all across my floor. However, other than that occurring, the pad is very nice to use and the paper is very high quality.

Great paper for charcoal
I love how easy this paper is to work with. While it is expensive, it's worth paying for quality paper that takes the charcoal well and holds up to the chamois and kneaded eraser.

Great!
Great for charcoal! It has a kind of grid-like texture or pattern to it. Sometimes I wish it was smooth, other times the texture makes it better. I am conflicted. It works really great for charcoal though.

Should not have been sent out in that condition.
The paper was creased and some folded over I highly doubt all that damage was done in transit. For the price I paid I'm very disappointed.
