Easy to read and locate places.

With all the navigation apps these days, people seem to have lost the ability to find their way without a synthesized voice telling them when to turn, which lane to use and how long before the next twist of direction. With AT&T’s very frequent outages, I decided to get some “old school” backup in each of our vehicles. All technology fails at some point, but paper maps are there when you need them. And some day you will need them. In the meantime, they can give you something your screens don’t: a perspective as to where places are in relation to one another. All pilots have paper maps and digital navigation systems. Makes sense for the rest of us, too.

Ah, the Rand McNally United States Interstate Fold Map – the classic backup plan for when technology inevitably fails at the worst possible moment. My GPS could decide to take me to a cornfield instead of my destination, but with this map, I’m ready for any detour life (or a malfunctioning satellite) throws my way.This thing is huge. I’m talking “take up the entire passenger seat” huge. But it’s packed with every road, highway, and mysterious backroad you could ever need. Sure, folding it back up requires a minor degree in origami, but that’s a small price to pay for navigating the world without fear.

Used it for a road trip and it was just what we needed!

My boyfriend and I travel A LOT. I'm tired of looking at a small atlas trying to figure out roads or going online and having to make the map huge just to see the higway number. This map is now hung on the guest bedroom wall. When I'm planning a trip I just go into the map, pick the city, find a road from point A to point B and we're off on our next adventure.
