Comfortable. Springs work. Affordable. Attractive.
First impressions:Bikes with drop bars are often set up for fast riding. The rider assumes the most aerodynamic position possible. This leads to the use of a hard, narrow saddle to facilitate the rider’s position. Saddles with springs are usually reserved for bikes set up for an upright rider position, and are, therefore wider and often padded as well. This saddle is something of a hybrid, being (somewhat) narrow and having both springs and (some) padding. It seems perfect for my application.I mounted this saddle on a touring bike (drop bars) set up for a semi-upright riding posture (bar height = saddle height). The springs work well to damp out the annoying “chatter” of rough pavement. (Rider weighs 185 lbs.)The saddle has a smooth faux leather surface which permits the (Lycra clad) rider to move back and forth easily. The gel padding makes the saddle comfortable right out of the box – no break-in required. The saddle is styled to mimic the appearance of much more expensive genuine leather saddles, “brass” rivets included. Combined with faux leather handlebar tape, it gives the bike a classic look.

The new definition of pain. Looks like a vintage British saddle, rides like a modern Chinese one.
There are a few positives about this saddle. It looks beautiful, it’s well made, the seat rails are strong, and the saddle adjusts easily. But that’s where the hearts and flowers stop. The memory foam padding is very thin – the saddle has very little “give” when seated upon it, owing to the plastic form upon which the saddle is constructed. The artificial leather doesn’t break in a bit. But the worst problem is that every time I sat on this thing, it felt as though I were sitting on the edge of an axe blade. I cannot recall ever having a saddle so painful! Hard pass for me!

Springs make a difference
I ride a single speed with an aluminum frame so the ride can get a bit jarring at times. I thought I'd try this out because: one, it fits the look of my bike and, two, I wanted to see if the springs made the ride more comfortable. The springs definitely do the job. This saddle doesn't have much padding on it, so it's pretty much relying on the springs to give you any degree of comfort. If you want more padding, adding an extra seat pad does the job nicely, though I decided to go without that. Padded shorts for bicycling also work fine if you need a bit softer of a surface. This seems quite sturdy and the finish is nice. I'm very happy with it and it does look good, so I gave it points for both the build quality, comfort, and the value for the money. This is a nice little upgrade.

Good saddle for the price
I've been using this on my bike trainer for awhile now and it's worked pretty well so far. The fake leather has a nice look to it and doesn't look plastic at all like some other leathers and the rivets are a nice touch. I ride my trainer for about an hour at a time and do not experience any discomfort afterwards. However, I will say that in this price range, I think there are more comfortable saddles but those are not as aesthetically pleasing. In terms of durability it's held up well but I'm not sure how well it would handle sunlight. In any case, definitely a decent saddle for the price and almost certainly an improvement over any OEM saddle that would come with a standard bike.

Good springs, lousy padding (but save-able)
Quick review: The springs on this seat do a good job of dampening shocks for light (135 pound) riders like me... while the baked-in padding feels more like a rock. But that's easily fixed with a gel topper.Details: The thing looks nice enough. It's covered in "PU leather," which I call "vinyl." There is some padding, but not much. It comes with a clamp, which isn't very good: It was too wide for the rails so you could barely even install it, and the clamps were *rusted,* straight out of the box; see my close-up photo. Fortunately, my seat post already has a clamp, so I didn't need it.To me, the seat was downright painful, straight out of the box. Feels like a plank. But all it needed was my old gel seat-topper (see red photo), and that made all the difference in the world. With the topper attached, it actually delivered a nice, plush ride (aided by my suspension seat post, I might add). It soaks up all kinds of bumps, both large and small. That's why I'd wanted the thing in the first place. So it's a nice improvement over my bike's original un-sprung seat... but I can't recommend this one unless you also include some kind of topper for it, in which case it's not terribly pretty, but who cares? It's hidden from view while you're riding, LOL!

Good traditional bike seat
My wife is about 140lbs and she complains every spring of pain in her sit bones while getting back into bike riding. She gone with wider and wider seat with more and more padding and springs and such and nothing has really helped. The guy at the bike shop suggested that she stop going wider and go back to a traditional seat which doesn’t compress the sit bones at all. He suggested a $300 leather seat. We got this one to try out the concept and it seems to work just like he predicted. However, she is having to get used to the new seat as she has been on those wide seats but no pain. This is not a $300 leather seat. I was going to give it 4 stars but it’s not fair comparing it to real leather which will break in. The PU leather (no chloride) addresses this issue with some foam under the “leather” and it works well.

The media could not be loaded.
