Lots of Laughs
Amidst bookshop shelves there stands static numerous books of pub jokes, one-liners and the odd anecdotal uttering from a comic celebrity. But rarely, these days, do we have the privilege of browsing a truly humorous, rib-tickling novel."The Jock Connection on the trail of Billy Bagman the Colostomy Comic, deserves the "not for the fainthearted" tag attributed by the Highland & Island Arts critic, but it is a marvelously humorous read, a page turner in the way of Milligan's Puckoon. If this author was once a Met Police cop, I'm sure he is lampooning some of the senior officers who must have knackered themselves keeping him on his beat during that time, (names changed to protect the guilty, no doubt). He certainly gives them a hard time, using their wives' attitude towards them: too much sex demanded or none given. The author has dusted off and used to good effect some well-handled, police chestnuts. All believable of cops capers....well, before the age of political correctness swept humour from the Job, that is.The Jock Connection's arrival in the I.Q., the Irish Quarter of the police manor they work, reveals the magical mind of this author: where else would you encounter a Morphy O'Richards. Morphy says, 'I don't know if me mammy called me after the toaster or someone with an atrocious Irish accent. Stories of the "Liar of the year" contest, won 57 times on the belt end by Grampy O'Sullivan, take some beating. The conclusion....well it would spoil your enjoyment of this hilarious book. Buy it, too, you'll know it made sense by the end!

The Jock Connection - this story made a connection with me...
I love this book and its apt cover's illustrations - it is a fantastic read. The antics of Harry, Hamish and others, kept me on the edge of my seat; and although my stomach was satiated by the plethora of enjoyment, my insatiable eyes were hankering for more of this appealing story - it is incredibly clever and well written, and comes together extremely well. The well-named characters are so believable and very often laugh-out-funny. Even in his brief appearance, Dan is an amazing, funny character - I hope the author uses him again... in a second book, maybe? Hilarious! This author very much appeals to me. I give the book my highest praise, and absolutely agree with the wonderful review from Scotland's Highland and Island Arts. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this story.
