Best natural peanut butter on the market!
I've been buying Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter for years. I've tried other brands, but they tend to be soupy at room temperature and unnaturally smooth, with kind of a "plastic" texture. Smucker's has the taste and texture of ground peanuts, slightly rough even with the creamy variety. Yes, it's kind of a pain to have to mix the peanut solids with the oil that's risen to the top, but that's going to be true of any natural peanut butter, that is, containing nothing but peanuts and salt. I plop three jars' worth into my KitchenAid stand mixer and in seconds the peanut butter is perfectly mixed and ready to be spooned back into the jars. I store them in the fridge and the oil never separates back out. It's actually a bit thick when refrigerated, but still spreadable unless you're making PB&Js with Wonder Bread. If so, you'd better keep a jar at room temp. Here's a tip: Store the jar upside down. It helps keep the oil distributed. The Amazon price for these nice, big jars is exactly the same as the Walmart price, where I usually shopped for it, but with the pandemic and the mask requirements here in New York state, I prefer to shop online as much as I can.The only problem is that Smuckers peanut butter comes in glass jars, which has sometimes resulted in breakage. The 6-jar pack is packed together with no cushioning between them in a cardboard holder and wrapped in plastic, and the jars do jostle against each other a bit. I do wish Amazon would insert some kind of cushion between the jars, even if only some strips of corrugated cardboard. The last time I ordered, two jars were smashed, but Amazon's customer service came through with a replacement shipment of the entire order and told me to keep the unbroken jars! My last order came through in perfect condition, thankfully. Nothing like cleaning up a bunch of broken glass and peanut butter to spoil your day!One really nice thing about ordering this peanut butter from Amazon is that it's one of the food items eligible for EBT. As a retiree on a strict budget, being able to use my EBT benefit really helps me keep my head above water financially. I only wish all food items on Amazon were EBT eligible. I might not have to set foot in a grocery store again!

The Most Delicious Peanut Butter on the Planet...If You Get It In One Piece.
I love this peanut butter. Seriously, I've tried so damn many varieties of "natural" peanut butter it'd make your head spin. And this is by far my favorite. It has the perfect amount of salt (this is very important in a good PB) and the consistency is right on the edge of smooth and just rough enough. I've been a devotee of this particular brand for years, and I don't mind paying a premium for it, either. Normally, I shell out about $5 for a 16oz jar of the stuff without blinking. So, as per usual, I was browsing Amazon for things I don't need to spend money on that I don't have when I decided, "Hey, Bob, wouldn't now be a good time to see if you could save a few bucks on peanut butter?" So I did.Wow, what a deal. That's what I thought to myself. Six 26oz jars of the good stuff for a little over $4 a jar? How could I go wrong? Little did I know the tragedy that would unfold a few days later.Hmmm, this package smells alot like peanut butter. Normally, I would think that this was a good thing, a package smelling like peanut butter, but since I was expecting said foodstuff, I knew it wasn't. I was right. As soon as I opened the box I saw it. Peanut butter, oozing amongst the jars. I carefully cut back the plastic shrink wrap to expose the damage. From what I could see, a single jar had sacrificed its life for the good of its comrades. It's legume-y innards laid bare for all to see, shard of glass poking menacingly out from the mess like crystal swords. If it had but a mouth calls for his mother would have surely emanated from its gape. Why, Smuckers, why! Why the glass, why such a breakable material when you know your goods are destined for points far away from Orville, Ohio? If only you had switched, this jar could have lived out its destiny, spread across some toast or pureed into a smoothie with some bananas and protein powder, but no. You chose complacency. You chose "tradition" over sense. Nostalgia over a lower shipping costs and a safe arrival of your product.I still love this peanut butter, but now every time I have some now I'll think about the one. The one that didn't make it. What would he have made of his life had he only been given the chance. Smuckers, I implore you, in the name of all that is sacred in spreadable protein pastes, switch to plastic jars. If not for this fan, do it for the peanut butter. Do it for the countless jars that never made it. Do it for them.
