Not used for intended purpose
So I bought this not because I had cattle or pigs, but I wanted to use it in BDSM play. For that purpose this prod works awesome. The device makes this sinister hum when you push the trigger which creates just as much anticipation in submissive as showing them the prod. The prod works through light clothing and bed sheets. Also, the prod comes with a set of batteries which is also nice. Some notes, the prod will retain a residual charge for a couple of minutes if you charge it and do not touch someone. Also, as with all electrical play make sure the person is healthy, not covered in sweat, and avoid piercings as well as above the waist play. Remember safe, consensual, play.

I tried the shock on myself immediately when I got the prod and it feels like a strong rubberband snap so it's not going to ...
This will not work for large livestock but works well for keeping my 3 large dogs in line and to keep other large dogs from chasing or attacking us. We have been chased home by 3 dogs on 3 separate occasions. Also have been confronted by 2 loose pitbulls. This has all taken place in a neighborhood during our daily walks. People lose track of their dogs or refuse to fence them. I refuse to take the brunt of that anymore. I've only had to use the "juice" of the shock once on each of my dogs and now they know that when they hear the sound they straighten up and act correctly. I tried the shock on myself immediately when I got the prod and it feels like a strong rubberband snap so it's not going to work on cattle or big animals. Takes C batteries. Would be nice if it had a scabbard or longer strap for crossbody carrying.

Does the job
Dad was tired of neighbor dogs coming on his porch. They were tripping hazards and just mess makers. He only had to mildly shock them once. It makes a buzzing sound when you press the button, so after that he just buzzed it and they ran. Now they don't come back. Don't think the neighbors would appreciate this but, oh well. Works great. We used them to train show lambs when our kids were in FFA, 4-H.

I like this.....
I bought this to use while walking since my crippled dog and I were attacked and he was bitten about 8 times. So far I haven't had to shock any dog but I have held the button down and they have stopped about 6 inches short of it. They must be able to hear the sound because every dog I have encountered that was acting aggressively has stopped and backed off when I push the button. I figured it would be much safer for the loose dogs running around than the bats and mace that other people are using and safer for us to keep us from being bitten, although I wish everyone would just keep their dogs up.

i bought this to protect myself and my dog from loose aggressive dogs and coyotes which was recommended to me by the animal control officer as safe for animals. well it is safe that is for sure. i accidentally got myself with it on the tip of my fingers and all it felt like was when you accidentally get a shock or better if you put your hand on a hot stove and remove quickly. there is no pain afterwords just a suprise basically. this will work to get a dogs attention at beginning before attack but i dont know if strong enough to protect from attacking dog and certainly not strong enough for coyotes. this is bascally the same as a shock collar maybe even less. i will still carry occasionally but have replaced with sabre pepper spray.
