Epiphone DOT Studio Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar, Gloss Cherry

Just recieved this guitar and I could not be happier. All I had to do was tune it, but I also wanted the action lower and it was unbelievably easy to set, it took about 10 and it played and sounded great. It is hard to believe how much people spend on guitars that are not as nice as this one. Summary: the sound, action, quality, and finish are excellent. This guitar is not only a great instrument it is a piece of art.

I always wanted a Gibson ES335, but could never justify the expense. I have my Dot for about a month now. I favor more expensive jazz archtops, but wanted an inexpensive semi hollow body for jam sessions and other situations to which I would be uncomfortable taking my best axes.I'm delighted with the Dot. It plays well. It sounds great through a Polytone Minibrute. I have not found any flaws in the workmanship. I'm played a couple of gigs with it. As the new toy in my house it's getting all the attention while my other guitars are moping in their cases. I just wish I had bought this guitar years earlier.

I'm an old gray-haired jazz lover who wanted to learn a new hobby on retirement. This will be my 3rd shot at learning guitar. now at least I have the time to do so. saw this on amazon, really low price $299, free shipping, no tax. the sound from this axe is really smooth, build is perfect, looks impeccable.for a newbie, this guitar is the perfect instrument. try it, you'll love it.

Marketing Claims versus Delivered product. In this case on the razors edge of over stated with overzealous cost cutting shortcuts evident. QC generally refers to Quality Control (in this case fast and loose.)It's not a bad instrument for the asking price. Several flaws are evident such as the binding intersection located at the neck joint which is a little arbitrary on one side (Yay, not a bolt-on!). Also the plating of the bridge posts shows several pits. Advertising claims it delivers setup (For a 3 armed monkey wielding a mallet....). Stickers on the back of the headstock confirm QC and setup (by a slacker obviously). Delivered condition of setup-terrible, horrible, awful and otherwise poor (there are strings, and screws affix various components :-). Strings are hacksaw finished but could help file down new frets. Fret work is smooth already however on a straight and true neck. Finish is attractive, semitransparent and delivered as glossy in contrast with the satin finish appearance of the product image on this page.Can it Be Saved?Gloriously, by adding coated strings such as Elixir's or DR Extralife-10-46 gauge (stock string gauge). A good Polish, and a real setup including bridge height, saddle adjustments, pickup heights, string height ( it eventually agreed to low E@12thfret / 2mm height, hi [email protected] height. then some slight nagging to eliminate a buzz between the nut and 1st fret. Lemon oil on the fret board. A dry lubricant applied to the nut and bridge components.• Restrung with DR Red Devils, the tone unplugged sounds really musical and well balanced.• Playability- fast and fluid all the way up the neck and very easy on the fingers.• In the end with substantial work invested its now a decent guitar for the price.But, no yearning for two of these or other Epiphone offerings. I bought this over five years ago. I own a lot of great guitars; including several ES-335s. The Dot Studio is one of my favorites. Since getting this one I’ve played and recorded with it a lot. It’s fantastic. It plays, sounds and looks great. The Epiphone Dot Studio is one of the best guitars available at any price. It’s well made and is a classy guitar. Highly recommended.

At about a tenth the cost of a Gibson 335 this is a great bargain guitar. It did need to be set up by a professional which was an additional $35. Plays great, sounds great.

Emulating one of the best, and most famed blues guitar, The "Dot" cannot be beaten for the price. From the savage rhythm of Malcom Young, to the one note sustain of B.B. King , the versatailty alone makes it one tool in your musical arsenal that will always be needed. The price is outrageously low! Get this!

Don't spend a thousand when you can spend a few hundred and get a really high quality product with a really warm tone and the semi hollows signature feature of amazing sustainability. Its the perfect guitar for anything from metal to jazz.

Ein traumhafte Gitarre, erst recht für den Preis. Ob Rock, Blues oder Metal, alle Varianten sind spielbar. Auch Feedback hält sich in Grenzen. Out of the Box bereits sehr gut eingestellt und Bundrein, was will man mehr. Verpackung 1a, die Epiphone kam hier sicher aus Barcelona an.Sie ist sauber verarbeitet, hat keine Fehler in der Lackierung, Bünde sind astrein.Ich kann die Epiphone Dot Studio nur weiterempfehlen. Ein schönes Instrument zum fairen Preis. Wer eine günstige ES 335 sucht kann bedenkenlos zugreifen.

Arrived in only two days and is absolutely amazing,The finish is gloss cherry and is much better than the picture showed, the action is incredibly low just the way i like it sound is a dream deep smooth tones and a pleasure to play although im not a very good player, i gather these Epiphones are made in China but i dont think an american made one could be finished any better, or sound any better, i have owed about 20 different guitars in my lifetime , but this is easily the best of the lot. the machine heads have a genuine grover certificate card on them and they look right to me . as do the humbuckers, all in all a wonderful buy, so if your thinking about this model go right ahead and buy you will be very pleased.
