Moh's Hardness Test Kit, 11 Pcs Mineral Hardness Set

This is a great kit of minerals to represent 9 of the levels of the Mohs Hardness Scale. Each mineral is a good size, at least 1 inch in size and comes individually contained in labeled zip bags. A information sheet is included as well along with a dark and light streak place approx. 1" wide by 3" in length. Well worth the price.

Nice little starter kit.

This is a great kit for the price. Most kits with labeled metal scratchers are over $100. I was surprised to open this kit and find just a bag of minerals. I expected them to be labeled, so I would know what each one is. I printed the picture from the Amazon seller's description and figured out what is what but if I was a total beginner, even that could be difficult. Although I would prefer a box with 9 separate labeled spots to hold the 9 mineral specimens, This kit will suit me just fine. I'm glad I bought it.

Specimens are high quality & sample size great - much larger than other harness kits I’ve seen. The kit does not include a glass plate, nail, & copper “penny” which are typically included in a hardness kit. However, those extra items are easily found, so not a problem.

Doesn't come with any sort of case or thing to hold the minerals.

This is a nice, small, affordable Moh's scale testing kit. Each rock comes in a small zip lock bag, labeled with the rock and hardess level. There are no instructions, so you have to know what the rocks are for and how to use them. It gets the job done though. Great for demonstrations for Scouts and class rooms.

This is what I expected and I like it.

The Corundum is NOT Corundum! It doesn't scratch quartz though quartz does scratch it! Weak. Total rip-off. The scratch above the finger nail in the picture is from quartz.

Good quality stones and well marked

Streak Plates are not as advertised. Not porcelain. Mineral samples for hardness are not labelled.

Used this as an educational aid with my 5 year old granddaughter. Worked well.
