Ego brand is quality. This is a good mower!
After having used this mower for an entire season, I couldn't be happier with it. This is my first battery operated mower and I was banking on the Ego brand to come through for me, and it did. The mower is easy to start and was reliable the whole season. The batteries held up well. I have about a half acre to mow so it requires two batteries to get the job done. I have noticed that you don't get as much battery time when the grass is high or wet. I usually mow every 3-4 days in peak season. It also obviously uses more battery power if you use the self-propelled function, which I always do. With a full battery, the self-propelled function is a pretty good clip. As the battery wears down, the mower propels more slowly. I'm usually ready to slow down by then, and when it runs out, I go to the second battery and pick up the pace again. I cut my grass with the mulching blade and I've been pleased with the sharpness of the cut. By the end of the season I was definitely noticing uneven cutting because it needed to be sharpened. I don't know how to do that, so I'll need to figure that out this winter but I'm pleased that it held up an entire season. My grandson always wants to help, so sometimes I leave a block of grass that he can mow. The handle is adjustable so that it is at the height a preschooler can push. He has no trouble knowing how to start the mower and engage the self-propelled feature because it is that easy, and while he doesn't mow in a straight line because he's a kid, he can handle the mower in the slower mode. (Yes, I am always out there with him, and I always remove the battery after mowing.) Overall, I am thrilled with the Ego mower. It's light enough that I can use it for the 75 minutes that it takes me to mow. I highly recommend it.

Mowing on the mountainside
This is my first experience with a battery operated mower so, I don't really have anything to compare this to. Here are my thoughts about the mower. I have a relatively small yard, roughly 1/3 of an acre. My yard is anything BUT flat. I live on the side of a mountain. So, those of you who live in the mountains/hills or have a sloped yard this thing rips! I started with the smaller capacity battery to see how long it would last. It made it all the way through the front yard, and about half of the back. Pretty impressive considering how NOT flat my yard is. The self-propel feature was a lifesaver especially up and down the hill. The back yard was pretty overgrown and is more sloped than the front. I have no problem saying the larger capacity battery would have no issues taking care of both the front and back in a single charge. It took just over an hour to cut both front and back. Excellent - Easy to setup and use. It has an extra battery. Plenty of power to mow thick overgrown areas. Clipping bag has decent capacity. Perfect size mower for my needs. Good speed control for self-propel feature. Good - Weight of the mower is good. Value seems good for the money. We'll see how the blades hold up over time. Not so good - My only gripe so far is the self propel feature doesn't always engage the first time. - This is just me being nit-picky. Bad - Nothing so far Ugly - Nothing I also own the 16" String Trimmer which I bought from a brick and mortar big box store, which is pretty awesome as well.

Welcome to electric
Electric mowers have never looked so good. Easy to charge and prepare, Ego has something special going on here. It comes with batteries interchangeable between most other Ego products, so if you buy a combo with 2 batteries you can also power your leaf blower and string trimmer all with one power source! This really adds great value to the purchase. The mower itself is great. I’d only used the mulch function so far, but it comes with other blades and accessories that help in doing any job you wish. Cut quality is close to or on par with gas mowers in the same price class, though it’s not perfect and might leave behind some stragglers that don’t get lifted up into the blades the first time. However, without spending more money this is one of the best options out there. It cuts quick and the self propelled feature is pretty fast and easy to use, and since it’s electric it’s a lot quieter than any gas mower out there. Would I trust this not to wake my neighbors in the early hours? No. Blades spinning at insane speed is loud no matter what. But it’s quieter than gas and a lot less hot and smelly. Overall, you’re getting an amazing deal that will welcome you into the world of electric lawn appliances and leave you satisfied that you get to put down the gas can and pick up the charger instead.

Great alternative to gas--quieter, lighter, easier to use
This works great and is quieter, lighter, and easier to maneuver than our previous (gas) mower, and no need to store flammable gas in a can in the garage or winterize the mower. The mulcher option works reasonably well, but it still leaves occasional clumps of grass if you skip attaching the bag (still, better than the old gas mower). When fully charged, the battery provides at least enough power for about a third of an acre lawn...takes about 30 minutes or so to recharge. (If your yard is larger, having a second battery in reserve is a good idea.) We're happy with it--better for the environment, better noise level, and less effort required to maintain a nice lawn...would never go back to gas-powered.

Good mower
Good mower. Easy to use. Charges last quite well. I did buy a second battery, but one charge gets most of my yard. Recharges fast. Glad I bought this mower.

Good, almost great
Overall, a good lawn mower. A single battery is large enough to mow my entire front & back lawn. Good at mulching. Folds and stores compactly. I haven't tried bagging the clippings. A few small improvements would make it a great lawn mower. - The drive clutch is not very forgiving. If your hand releases ~2mm then it'll cut power to the blades. You'll need to stop, let it spin down, and then start it back up. While that only takes 5-8 seconds, it happens constantly. - Also, the two rear drive wheels are locked, which makes going around curves frustrating.
