I cannot say enough awesome things about this book
So I am just copying the review I did for the volume 1 of this book (fabric savvy) onto here with some added stuff. This one has more fabrics some of the same from the other but even more than before.I cannot say enough awesome things about this book! Not only has it helped me chose fabric for projects but also help me figure out how to care for clothes I already have when I ripped off the tag with all the symbols on it (cause those little things are itchy). It also has some crazy awesome info about how to sew each fabric in regards to needles, threads, and even presser feet. It is a must have.I still stand by the statement that it is a must have.

Exactly what I needed.
This book is exactly what I was looking for. I have already raved about it to a friend who has borrowed it from me. I bought it because though I know how to sew I don't know much about fabric and this book gives me the information I need to make wise fabric choices. When I look at the pages online before my purchase and saw that African Mud Cloth was included, I knew I had to have it. I had purchased yards and yards of African Mud Cloth when I was in Paris 4 years ago and have done nothing with it. The books give suggestions for its use and now I have all kinds of projects lined up for it.

Excellent quick reference
This is an excellent book to add to your sewing library. It's easy to use and I love that it lays flat. I had stopped sewing for years and used this book to not only refresh my memory but learn about fabrics I've never used. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone just starting sewing and even those that have been sewing for years. There's always something to learn and this book puts everything about the fabrics discussed neatly and concisely.

Very helpful reference, takes up where Fabric Savvy left off
"More Fabric Savvy" gives a lot of hints about the selection and treatment of newly available fabrics. I didn't give 5 stars because some of the fabric photo garments use more than one fabric, and you can't tell how much drape to expect. However, before I bought some of the newer fabrics, this book would help me understand if I wanted to deal with the fabric at all.For each fabric listed, there are segments about: Preshrink directions; Layout; Marking method; Cutting; Type of Interfacing; Type of Thread; Type of Needle; normal Stitch Length; Presser Foot; Seam Finish; Pressing Guide; comments about Topstitching; suggestions about Closures; and recommended Hem method. The fabrics in this volume are:African Mudcloth, Alpaca.Batik, Batiste & Voile, Batting, Beaded, Boiled Wool, Brocade, Burnout.Camel Hair, Canvas, Cashmere, Charmeuse, Chenille, Chiffon, China Silk, Corduroy, Crepe de Chine, Crinkle.Damask, Denim, Dupion.Embroidered, Eylash, Eyelet.Faux Fur, Faux Leather, Faux Suede, Felt, Flannel, Fleece.Gabardine, Georgette, Glitter, Guatemalan Cotton.Handwoven, Hemp Cloth.Jersey.Knits, Double; Knits, Lycra; Knits, Sweater.Lace, Lame and Lurex, Leather, Linen, Loose Weaves.Matte Rayon Jersey, Microfiber, Mohair, Moleskin.Ottoman.Pique, Polyester Silky, Prepleated Fabrics, Puckered Fabrics.Quilted Fabrics.Rayon Viscose, Ripstop.Satin, Sequins, Shearling, Shirting, Silk Gazar, Silk Noil, Silk Organza; Silk, Sandwashed; Silk Shantung; Silk, Thai; Silk Tussah; Silk Tweed, Slinky Knit, Stretch Leather, Stretch Wovens, Suede, Sueded Rayon, Sunbrella, Sweatshirting.Taffeta, Tencel, Terrycloth, Tule & Net.Upholstery.Velour, Velvet, Velveteen, Vinyl, Viyella.Water & Wind Resistant, Waterproof Breathables; Waterproof Non-Breathables, Wetsuit, Windbloc, Wool Boucle, Wool Challis, Wool Crepe, Wool Double Cloth, Wool Gauze, Wool Jersey, Wool Melton, Woolens & Worsteds. The following appendices are provided:Visual Glossary, Determining Fabric Content, Linings, Stain Removal Guide, Glossary, Sources, IndexI especially like the page devoted to determining fabric content. I will need it as I dare to select fabric from my stash. (Let's just hope the fire department doesn't have to rescue me.)

A great quick-reference manual.
This great quick-reference guide is for sewists of all skill levels. Highly recommended. The excellent full-color book covers machine-sewing of 101 different fabrics. Everything from African mudcloth to weather-resistant synthetics.I got a hardcover, spiral-bound copy of the $24.95 book in mint condition on Amazon Marketplace for only $7.50. The $26.95 update is a softcover book with only a few more fabrics and some updated notions. Nothing that can't be found for free online.

Can Be Difficult To Find Things In This Book
I like the basic book. Since this is "MORE Fabric Savvy", I assume there was a "Fabric Savvy" that this could be the sequel to. That may explain why I have so much trouble finding things in this book. The most basic of fabrics and inter-facings and lining materials seem to be missing. I'll have to look for that other book. If there is one, I will buy it.Like I said, I like the basic book. If your fabric is in it, it has a wealth of information: fabric care, needles, thread, sewing tips, laundering or cleaning. It just isn't comprehensive; I want the book with that other stuff in it, too!By the way, someone suggested carrying this book to the fabric store to look things up. It is a very nice size with a hardcover and spiral binding, but it is HEAVY.

A Must have Fabric Reference guide
This reference is a must for any & all sewing enthusiasts! Textile & design Students, teachers & the everyday home designer MUST have this book. I have a personally signed copy from Sandra Bettina from years ago that I use religiously. Don't know what type needle or seam finish for your fabric? You ll find the answer here as well as other useful fabric facts for everything from cotton to crepe. I've given several for gifts to some of my design students & was sad to hear it's out of print. I purchased an excellent used copy from Amazon & it was accepted enthusiastically!

More Fabric Savvy
This book is chock full of excellent information relative to varied fabrics that we work with. The photos are large and enticing. The information is interesting and spaced well on the page. It is very readable but backed by experience and research. Any one who sews would find this a valuable reference in a sewing library.

Great book that provides loads of insight into all the different types of fabric. Would be great to have had it pocket size to take around the fabric shops with you but this way it has loads of info.

Even better than the first edition
Even better than the first edition. I use this personally and to help other costume sewers at our theatre choose the right needles, tensions, stitches, feet and seams for everything from batiste to leather. An indispensable resource for anyone who sews.
