Completely Raw. Mel B is girl power.
Read this book in 6 days, I took it away with me and couldn’t put it down. It is brutally honest and has made me value the people in my life a lot more than I already did.

To be “Brutally Honest”… was quite disappointed.
Firstly, having not read Mel B’s previous autobiography (which I’m going to read next) I thoroughly enjoyed the glimmers of the spice days in which she delicately spread into the book. Now, to be “brutally honest”, I feel many of the topics that were discussed were tiptoed around and in someways felt much of the pieces were missing to fit the puzzle. Which yes is to be expected where DV is concerned, however the lack of timeline or consistency throughout the book made me asking more questions than answers.I found the jumping of the book to different events or years quite confusing and it was easy to lose focus on what you’re reading. With lack of dates and no timeline followed, again I was asking more questions than answers. I also found myself skipping parts especially where information was repeated 3-4 times over, maybe to increase word count? That being said, I really feel for Mel’s family and all that they also went through with he who shall not be named, in particular her daughter, Phoenix who from reading this book, I fear will have seen/heard too much to not be impacted quite intensively especially in years to come when she has her own relationships etc. dThe sense of regret particularly over her relationship with her dad I found moving and I think this relationship definitely weighs in on her choices of partner heavily. I only hope that she finds some happiness and peace in the future with her nearest and dearest. No one should have to suffer as she did and I admire her strength to tell some of the reality, although, like all DV survivors, the excuses for behaviour still remain and I’m not sure at the moment, this is the happily ever after she rightfully deserves.

Informative and interesting
This read was very informative, interesting and scary at the same time. I'm so sorry Mel B. went through what she did and can only hope she is in a much better place today. Keep your friends and loved ones close and ALWAYS trust your gut. For those who choose to judge another, I read something a while back that says a lot - Don't let someone who hasn't walked in your shoes tell you how to tie your shoelaces!!

A must read for both women and men
This is a truly blood curdling account of however strong a woman can be a man can come along and pray on her weaknesses, this is abuse in your face, it’s tragic, it’s sad but also funny. This is going on as we speak to both men and women and we must engage in raising awareness every which way possible, this should never happen to anyone.

A scary tell that needs to be told
This book feels like you’re sitting with a friend who just got out of a horrible situation and is processing her realisation while talking to you. Mel B is connecting the dots and starts seeing the patterns in her life to understand how she got where she is today. The book is not chronological written and jumps from key moments to memories from different times and situations. It is a download of the start of Mel’s recovery journey from such traumatic experience. She doesn’t go into too many details of the actual assaults (you might know the horrific details from tabloid stories) but gives you a good enough idea on how evil her abuser could be. It is truly her story and it is important that it got told on a public platform, as it hopefully helps other victims to be seen.
