Really really a fantastic book . Lots of fantastic drawings ( the black and white section is stunning !!)I still have to read all the notes , but paper and pictures are well chosen , 33 years of career in Marvel fully depicted.Want to find something bad ? Not here. Just remember that this is a tribute to art, and not a very precise encyclopedia for JRJR penciling list ( lots of info about all comics series he has drawn are missing , some small mistakes are present). Shamefully some pages from Uncanny X-men most recent art are scanned, but this do not decrease the greatness of this penciler. The cover alone is worth the full price of the book.

To begin, I loved the commentary by the exceptional artist John Romita Sr. Very conversational and gives a sense of a fathers angst and aspirations for his family and John Jr. in particular. The balance of the narrative is likewise interesting. Anecdotes, insights and a solid recap of John Romita Jr's work and evolving artistic legacy. The artwork is as expected, both beautiful and an joy to explore. Great book for John Romita Jr. fans as well of comic fans in general.

JRJR is my favorite artist. I first saw his work in Uncanny X-Men in the early 90s and just completely fell in love with his style then and there. I am a collector of any comic book he's worked on and this book is such an astonishing chronicle through career from the early 1980s to 2011.I highly recommend this to any John Romita Jr. fan, you won't regret it.

If you are a fan of John Romita Jr.'s work then this book is a must have! It pretty much covers JrJr's career work with Marvel Comics. It's a very good read with enough color pictures to make your head spin. Very in-depth review of the many Marvel Comics that JrJr has worked on. This book is a must have, nuff said!

shipping was a little slow, but worth the wait. I've read a lot of pros & con about this book but for $2.36, it was worth the bread. This book is excellent and I'm still reading it. Thanks!

Excellent pencil and finished drawings fill every page. I bought it for my 12 year old son who loves it.

Libro di 240 pagine con formato "quadrato" di 26x29,5, una buona rilegatura e una stupenda sovracopertina (che molti definiscono la più bella immagine del libro... e sarei anche io concorde nel dirlo, ma c'è molto di più). Le tavole vengono raccolte e descritte in 6 capitoli: si parte dall'introduzione poi viene affrontato il periodo dall'anno 1981 al 1990, poi dal 1991 al 2000, dal 2001 al 2011, immagini in bianco e nero e, infine, una cover gallery.Che si ami o meno John Romita Jr., trovo comunque interessante che il libro evidenzi l'evoluzione del suo stile, da inizio carriera e fino al 2011. Si può notare come fino al 1990 il suo disegno fosse ancora un po' impersonale e si allineasse alla corrente dei fans di John Buscema, ma è nel capitolo 3, cioè dal 1991, che si nota la prima impronta dell'Artista che personalmente apprezzo e stimo. Lo si potrebbe criticare sulle anatomie, ma personalmente le trovo molto adeguate al suo stile, che, grazie a pose e inquadrature molto ben studiate, regalano sempre tavole dinamiche ed evocative. Di sicuro, il suo lavoro viene molto più apprezzato quando gli si abbina un colorista adeguato (Capitolo 4. dal 2001 al 2011) ed in questo libro troverete molte delle immagini più belle, tratte dalle tavole di fumento e dalle cover (fantastiche quelle di Thor, Spider-Man e Hulk). Alcuni si sono lamentati di una scarsa definizione delle immagini. E' vero, ci sono alcune immagini che vengono scannerizzate da fumetti d'"epoca", ma credo sia normale una non ottimale riproposizione considerando che già all'epoca la definizione e la carta non erano delle migliori. Anche alcune tavole in bianco e nero si potrebbero dire non di ottima riproduzione, ma la resa, considerando siano delle matite, è comunque apprezzabile, ma tutto il libro è comunque di ottima fattura e non trovo particolari criticità.Per tutti i Fans credo sia un acquisto d'obbligo (piacevole anche per la storia che lo accompagna e i commenti di altri artisti al suo lavoro). Non do 5 stelle, perchè il libro è ormai un po' vecchiotto e si ferma al 2011 (anno di pubblicazione).

Big JR JR fan! Have wanted this book for years but just never got around to ordering it. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys JR JR's angular take on modern superhero icons.
