This replaced a much dimmer spot light that went out after 3-4 years. It works well and lights up the area.

I have purchased at least a half-dozen of these over the past several years, as the original different ones burned out. These are way better: brighter, more focused, more pleasing light. They illuminate our cacti fully.

I liked these until they broke. Now all the lights I purchased are broken, they still turn on but I have to prop them up with rocks or sticks...not what I wanted. Too bad they are made of such cheap plastic. Save your money and buy something more sturdy.

I was looking for a low voltage spot light for a Christmas display, so when this became available, I ordered it. Here is what I found: 1. First, this is a well made item that combines plastic (stake in the ground and wall mount) with metal (light). They supplied two types of mounts, a wall mount and a stake mount) that both fit perfectly and allow for the power cord to pass through. 2. Support for this product is good, but not exactly quick. If you use e-mail expect to wait the full 72 hours (not including weekends and holidays) for a response. The website does state that responses can take that long, so it is not a suprise. Once the response is received, it is complete and helpful. 3. This light can be run on either 12 volts DC or on 12 Volts AC. The only caution that was provided by the company was that DC voltage seems to cause the terminals to corrode faster. 4. The connection device works well and is very quick to install. Generally, when you run low voltage you snake the cord across all of the areas that you want a light to be and then connect into that one main run of cable. Thus, the connector type (vampire connector) that penetrates the cable but does not cut it. If you want a more permanent type of connection, strip the wire and solder the wires to the main cable. Then, enclose the splice are in a water tight coating. 5. With the low power requirements of this light, it can be connected to a 12Volt DC power supply that you may have hanging around from an old router or other device. Just ensure that the supply can provide 1 Amp at 12 Volts DC and you have it made. Also, keep in mind that you will NOT want to put that power supply outside in the weather unless it is rated for that. So, if you are running this out of a garage for a display, like I am, then it is no worry. 6. The light is a warm white and does a great job of really lighting up my display. The beam has a nice spread to it. It is NOT a pinpoint beam. more of a spot light.All in all, this is a perfect unit for what i needed and I am happy with it. The light output is much higher than a lot of other lights so if you are going to compare it, ensure you are looking at a 7 Watt LED light!!! For the wattage and construction, I think it is fairly priced.

About a month ago, I wrote two one star reviews of Malibu lights...I'd just spent the day replacing several hundred dollars of broken fixtures. It's way too early to know how these will last, but the obvious flaws in the Malibu fixtures aren't present in this fixture. The ground mounting post in this fixture is plastic...it won't corrode. The pipe that holds the top piece fits tightly over the base piece...the Malibu has exposed bare aluminum threads holding the sections together. A number of them corroded and broke off at the threads. This doesn't have any exposed metal. The top section is heavy cast painted aluminum. All-In-all, this light looks like it'll last a long time.The only remaining area of concern is the electrical connector. Those always seem to corrode after a couple of years. This time, I've coated it with liquid electrical tape, a thick goopy black liquid that dries to a waterproof coating. If that doesn't work, I'm stripping the wires and moving to waterproof twist nuts...it'll be a couple of years before I know.A 7 watt LED puts out an impressive amount of light. I have it pointing up, illuminating one of our backyard trees. It really looks nice at night.Are there cheaper lights available? Absolutely. And I've tossed them into the garbage every four or five years. I have every expectation that that won't be this guys fate. I'll keep you posted.

I've been converting all our landscape lights to LED - brighter and requires less power. This light is extremely bright (it lit our 2.5 car garage like mid-day!), and decently low on the power draw. I connected it to my DC meter - it draws .5 amps, 6 watts. Half an amp is a pretty good draw for a single LED bulb, but that's only a fraction of what a good landscape light transformer supplies. It's also less than a halogen bulb that's not even close to the brightness.This little light will fully illuminate an entire garage door - so it's good for security or accent lighting.Build: The housing - actually everything down to the spike - is coated aluminum. The spike is plastic. The power tap is the typical low voltage pinch tap that pierces landscape power wire. The adjustment angle locks in place with a thumb-screw.Installation: If it's possible, I suggest hooking it up temporarily so you see how bright the light is - you don't want this pointing towards a window or very close to plants. It won't damage plants, but the light is so bright it will be very harsh. It's a wide, even light that could light up a small yard.From unpacking to being in the ground is fast - unlike many low voltage lights, this requires no assembly. So why 4 and not 5 stars? It's darn expensive. Bit it is excellent quality and will probably outlive your house.

Bought these to light up my water fountain and pond at the front of my house. They throw a perfect amount of light for this 4 foot tall rock fountain and 6 foot diameter pond! put them on a timer with the rest of my larger front flood lights that shine on the house!Very happy with the quality!
