They can be used either as ballast bypass bulbs or with the ballast in place. They are bright and throw nearly the same light pattern as the original bulbs. The pic I included shows the led bulb beside the existing flouresent bulb running on the same ballast. You can see I s nicer light and brighter and reflects very similar onto the ceiling. I have had 180deg led bulbs in the past and my complaint was that the ceiling is dark and not lit up. Not so with these 240def bulbs! I've already ordered a second case and I haven't even installed all these ones yet! I think they are brighter when you install them as bypass bulbs based on what I could see. Update! They are still awesome! I am going to replace my other led ones that keep burning out with more of these ones!

I received 40 of these Parmida led tubes today and installed them. Overall I'm happy with them, they are replacing T8 florescent bulbs inside my home and outside in my barn. The ones I replaced in my barn put out a lot more light than the T8's they replaced mainly due to the cheap ballasts in the shoplights I have. The ones I replaced inside are marginally brighter than the T8's I had before but it's not a "in your face" increase in brightness as they were outside since the ballasts inside were higher quality and drove the florescent tubes brighter. I disconnected the ballasts for most of the fixtures which leads me to the one bit of info I discovered that I had not seen mentioned anywhere else...... If you leave the ballast connected (a good ballast that is not failing) these led tubes will come on instantly, However, when connected straight to 120ac they take between 0.5 and 1 second to come on after you flip the switch. I'm not sure why it makes a difference, I would have thought it would be the other way around if it made any difference at all but You can plainly see in the video that the fixture with a ballast still connected is on full blast before the one that is connected directly even starts to flicker, and it was consistent, any fixture where I left the ballast in the mix comes on instantly while any connected straight to 120 ac take about a second. I still chose to remove the ballast on most of the fixtures but I did leave a few in the house in areas where the delay would annoy me more often. I'm curious exactly how much more power is used if the ballast is left in the loop vs connecting direct to 120ac? Also, if you want the clear look, the frosted coating is just a shrink wrap you can easily remove, you may get a bit more light output if the tube is going under a frosted fixture that way.

They are great replace lighting. Just had to remove old lights and put in new ones. Only had to disconnect the blast in two light because the blast had already failed.

These are by far one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I’ve put in 16 and I am very happy with the brightness, color and ease of install. I recommend removing the ballast as it makes the fixture considerably lighter. I did have to contact customer service for a quick question and Emilee was extremely prompt and helpful. Thank you Emilee : ) The price per tube and quality exceeds any on Amazon in my opinion.
