It does the job but more instructions would have helped
I managed to drill a pocket hole, but had to go on YouTube to watch a video on how to do it, as there weren't any clear instructions enclosed. There aren't any depth marks on the drill bit itself which would have made life easier but I assume you only get those on more expensive jigs. Anyhow, most of the time I will be making pocket holes on either 22/100 or 22/150 wood, so I have set the stop ring accordingly. I did this by sliding the drill through the drill hole guide to the bottom plate, then pulling back a mm. (Hopefully the ring will stay in place) I did need to clamp the pieces of wood before driving in the screw, as I couldn't hold them together tight enough

Simple to use, great join
I got this when making a cabinet after seeing people use them on YouTube. It works really well and joins two pieces very securely. So securely, you probably don't need glue. Super easy to use, comes with screws, drill etc. Also has some plastic I serts that I'm pretty unsure how they go on, but that's probably me. ๐ The drill does scrape away bits of the aluminium guide, so I suspect it won't last for ever, but it'll last well enough.

Small jobs
It does the job and if your just experimenting with for small amount of fixings then fine but if you have a big project then I would suggest something more substantial.

It works a treat
I read some of the other reviews and was a bit iffy on whether it would work. But it has. I slid the thickness adjuster up to the width of the wood, set the depth of the drill itself as per the instructions and fitted the retainer ring. 40 pocket holes later and it doesn't look like it's been used. I used a variable speed drill on a very low speed and didn't apply all that much pressure. Maybe going too fast and pushing too hard is what wears them out quickly? Perfect holes, very happy. Slow and steady wins the race though :)

Makes holes. A bit rough though
The pocket jig makes holes. However, they are a bit rough

Looks right but fails miserably
Some of the engineering on this jig is really good, and after a first trial I thought it worked really well. However after drilling just another 5 or so pairs of pocket holes I realised it was rapidly wearing the steel ferrules (and the vertical aluminium block) that are meant to guide the drill accurately. The net result is that the drill is allowed to drill a much shallower pocket that almost breaks through the edge of the board you are trying to machine, thus scrapping the board. This all happens because the inserts that thread into the vertical block are inferior and too soft, and have "ovaled" already. If I can't find replacement ferrules the jig becomes useless, and even if I can find replacements I'm going to have to replace them very regularly to maintain useful function. Overall such a shame because some of the engineering is really sound.
