I also would step on my old scale every time as well for the first month to check the results and they both give the same number. I really love the app and bluetooth connectivity. I set my iPhone on the counter before getting on the scale to weigh myself each morning, and it uploads all the data to the ABYON app and also inputs data to my Fitbit app. The tracking screen lets me look at changes in my weight, BMI, body fat and other data on a graph. The one thing you should know is that you need to use the app if you want to know your BMI, body fat and other measurements. My old scale displayed my weight, then cycled through BMI and body fat on the display. This scale only displays weight and you need to rely on Bluetooth and the ABYON app to view the other data.
