So much fun!
I got this for my daughter, who has always wanted a balisong (butterfly knife). I told her to master this one, then we'll talk! The "blade" portion is weighted, so it actually feels like a balisong when you're operating it. It flips and spins quite well, and it is an exceptional trainer.

It's not a squid, but you don't need one.
This little flipper is a lightweight, quiet practice toy. I had an interest in learning to flip balisong, but after getting a basic live blade, i found I was unable to comfortably risk the cuts; my first accident was within seconds of getting it out the box! This is a great affordable practice option. Smooth hinging, not tons of play, and it even comes with the hex tool to adjust the tension! It's a little light for my taste because it's all plastic, and I started on a handle-bias all-metal blade, but I never got past the basic open on my live blade, and now I'm doing all sorts of stuff. If you find yourself thinking "I don't want to use a practice, it'll make me complacent," you shouldn't worry about it. It comes with a little band to mark which handle is the live handle, and if you practice diligently, you shouldn't have too much difficulty. The handles don't clack thanks to the second post, and they're easily weighted by using any number of things: tape, tiny weights, rubber bands, etc.The design leaves something to be desired, but I didn't have the same options, and honestly I'm not gonna look cool doing it in public anyway, so I'm not super concerned.
