Fantastic dog door - Easy simple install.
I’m super satisfied with this for my pup!I have a deck my dog likes to sit out on, and constantly opening and closing it, can be a hassle - especially since the moment when I sit down, she wants to go out. I had no idea that a screen dog door even existed, I thought I was going to have to buy a whole new screen door!Instructions were clear, it was super easy to install. I didn’t get it 100% straight, which kind of bothers me, but it works perfect perfectly. I’m so glad I can now give access to my dog anytime she wants - and the fact I didn’t have to buy a whole new screen door is icing on the cake! This item is well worth the investment. I didn’t add the silicone it recommended, only because I couldn’t find it - I will add that later. I used a box cutter, and a level - mallet was 100% needed. I do think this will enable it to have some more security, because if you have a bruiser of a pup, they could knock it off if they punch through it. So I recommend adding!Overall - so darn worth it. It’s great!

Great screen dog door
Worked great to allow our dogs to exit and enter our house through the screen door. Easy to install.

Much cheaper alternative than a factory installed pet door
We installed this PetSafe door on a brand new screen door before we hung our new screen door onto our house. This was fairly easy to install since we installed it while our new vinyl screen door was not yet installed and we could lay it flat on the patio. It would be very difficult to install without the screen door lying flat. The grooves inside the PetSafe door frame half made it easy to run a blade through our screen door’s screen fabric to cut out the rectangular opening needed for the PetSafe door. The screen fabric inside the swinging door is the screen fabric from PetsSafe and not from our screen door yet it matches ours well. We had to line up one half of the PetSafe door frame on one side of the screen with the other half of the PetSafe door frame placed on the opposite side of the screen and then hammer the halves together to fit closed with the screen fabric between them. We had to hammer the rubber mallet around the circumference maybe 10 times or so before we got all gaps to close between the front and back sides of the Petsafe door frame around the nylon screen hole we cut out. The PetSafe door hinge swings the PetSafe door freely and easily with no real resistance. The lock feature locks either both directions of the swing or just one direction depending on how we set it. We installed it so the pegs of the lock have to be set while standing outside and we’re not sure if that’s a mistake or not, but as we are not likely to need it, that doesn’t matter to us.Now and then we see gaps between the two sides of the frame open up that we pinch closed again. We didn’t use any glues between the frame halves and we weren’t instructed to, but if the frames start having trouble staying pinched together that will be our backup plan. While it appears the PetSafe door is resting on the frame of our screen door, it isn’t. It is lined up near it and is just hanging onto the screen fabric. It really saved us money to install this onto a new screen door ourselves rather than buying a screen door with a pet door already built into it. Our 2 cats got used to it in a couple days and they love it. We are very pleased with this purchase.¡Update! - around 2 weeks after installing it, our active kitten charged through the door and knocked it off the screen so I knocked a star off our rating. We went to our backup plan and put glue gel in the track side of the frame and, while the screen door was still on its hinges, we lined up both sides of this frame (one person on either side of the door) and squeezed it closed around the screen hole it had been on. We couldn’t get it completely squeezed tightLy together around the 4 sides of this pet door frame because the screen door was vertical. I am sure we could have done better if we’d taken it down and laid it horizontal but we’re hoping with the glue it will be good enough to hold. so far so good, it still looks nice and operates well.

Solid Dog Door; Easy Install and Seems Durable
I bought the larger door though my dog is only around 25 lbs. She really bolts for the door so I wanted to make sure I had enough space for her to get through the door without breaking the screen. This door really fits the bill. I haven't really used the door locks yet, partially because I fear having my dog bang into it when I don't expect her to try to go out. This door was easy to install and is durable though fairly lightweight. I thought it would weigh heavy on my screen but it sits nicely and has a tight seal that protects the rest of the screen. The directions were not super-clear but this is fairly simple to install; not a lot to it. It seems fairly durable; I've had it about a month and it seems solid and my dog has gone through it at a very high rate of speed without impacting the door's performance or ripping the screen. The door locks seem a bit delicate so I'd wonder how they'd hold up under frequent use (lock/unlock/lock) but so far so good. I also like how there is a magnet to prevent endless swinging. I am really pleased with this purchase. Though purchased for a 'bigger' dog it has a small footprint and blends nicely with the door.

Worth the money, the nicest looking doggy door for its price, but clasping the frame was hard
- this is the only option doggy door that can be installed directly to the sliding door screen (I guess window too if you have cats), I got other more expensive ($160) option in the past that requires removing part of the screen, rolled it back to the gutter, and drill directly to the door. The installation of it is so much easier compare to other one.Of course it’s not as solid, pretty- but for what it’s worth, I think it’s good enough. My two dogs are small, so the small door was sufficient and not dragging down the screen door and make it flimsy.- installation instruction was a joke, but there are videos available. It’s hard to tell where to cut since both my screen and frame are both black. Also they slide around a lot. It’s also very difficult to get the two frames to clicked, it took me a frustrated 30 min- even closing the two frames on its own was not easy, let along laying it flat with a stretchy screen. That was very frustrating.- I didn’t use the screw provided. Once I hammer the frames together, didn’t look super secure but I prayed it works… cause I tried the screw and it broke the plastic frame. Maybe if I made a pilot hole it would be ok??? But it hasn’t fall apart this far- anyways you get what you paid for. It’s ok

Best invention ever
Best thing I’ve bought in a long time! My golden retriever is so afraid of everything and we taught her how to use this door and literally five minutes just using banana as a treat! Definitely seems sturdy enough and took one minute to install.

For $4.87, this pet door is dirt cheap. But expect it to last no more than a few months.
Update 09/11/2017 - downgraded to 1 Star.I definitely cannot recommend this door if you have active dogs like mine. My 18 lb. Shih Tzu / Border Terrier loves to fly through the door at full speed and as a result, he's knocked out the swinging inner door not once, not twice, but 3 times, each time necessitating the purchase of a complete new PetSafe door. The door design is flawed. The swinging door swivels on 2 1/8" plastic pins. If the pins were made of steel instead of cheap, low strength plastic, the pins would not break. It was already a flawed design. As I mentioned in my original post below, the 2 piece PetSafe door frame will separate under constant use. There is absolutely no way that the door frame pieces will stay together press fit together with a layer of window screen sandwiched in-between. When the dogs come and go through the door, they are exert a small amount of force on the door frame in either direction and eventually the frame will separate. The only solution is to drill holes through the frame and bolt the pieces together with screws and nuts.I've bought my last PetSafe Pet Screen Door. I'm moving onto something else because it simply is not designed to handle the rigors exerted upon it by an active dog.Original Review (2 stars).I bought two PetSafe Pet Screen Doors knowing that it was a flawed design having read most of the negative reviews of the product. However, for the measly sum of $11.87 X 2 to replace 2 shredded patio screen doors, thanks to my overzealous small dogs, I decided to give the product a try, knowing the best alternative metal screen pet doors cost 10 to 20 times more. For my installation, I installed the PetSafe doors concurrently with new pet resistant vinyl coated screens which are thicker and stronger than typical screens. As I thought would happen, PetSafe doors would not mount properly on my pet resistant screens. The PetSafe doors features 2 plastic frames which feature tongue and groove channels. When the 2 frames are pressed together, the channels should clamp together tightly onto the screen, thus securing it in place. The frames rely on friction to keep from separating, but pet resistant vinyl screens are simply too thick to allow the doors to be installed as per the instructions. So I created my own set of instructions:1. Go to the hardware store and buy 8 machine screws and nuts - size #8 x 3/4" long. Also buy #8 flat washers and lock washers. If you don't already have a drill bit to match the #8 screw diameter, buy one now. If you don't have a drill, maybe you should not be attempting this project. Also purchase 5 - 2" inch nails that are the same diameter as the #8 machine screw.2, Tape the frames together with masking tape so that when you drill the holes, the frames don't separate. Drill 8 holes, 1 on each corner and 1 each at the mid-point of all 4 sides.3. Face the screen interior side up. Take the interior side frame and place it onto the door or window screen in the position you desire. Measure the spacing if you don't trust your eyeballs. Use masking tape to tape it to the screen so it won't slide around.4. Take the 4 nails and push it through the 4 corner holes and through the screen mesh.5. Take the other frame and mount it on the other side of the screen mesh, using the 4 nails to align the 2 frame together.6. Take the 5th nail and push it through one of the open holes, through the mesh, and through the 2nd frame. Wiggle it around slightly. Because the screen mesh is tightly woven, we need the nail to expand the hole enough for a #8 screw to pass through it. Remove the nail after the drill hole is clear of all obstructions.7. Take 8# - 3/4" machine screw and flat washer and insert it into the hole. On the other end, secure it with a lock washer and nut. Thread it part way but do not tighten yet.8. Do the same for the remaining 7 holes.9. Once all the screws and nuts are mounted, tighten them down, but do not over tighten. Keep in mind that the frames are plastic and could crack from excessive pressure.10. Using a sharp utility blade, cut the hold for the screen. After the hole is cut, swing the door to see if there is any leftover screen material sticking out that prevents the door from swinging freely. If there is, then use the utility blade to clean it up.Optional: There are 2 plastic pins at bottom of the swinging door. One of my dogs likes to use his paw to push the door open, but in so doing he often inadvertently locks the swinging door. I decided to remove the locking pins by holding the door up, extending the pins, and cutting them off with the utility blade.Considering the screw and nut was invented back around 400 BC, I have no idea why PetSafe abandoned it while designing these doors. Did they suddenly decide they were no longer useful?I've attached a picture of my Pet Safe Door as installed after modifications. It's not pretty, but the door swings properly and combined with the pet resistant screen, it's mounted securely. Considering these doors probably cost no more than a dollar in manufacturing costs, if it lasts more than a year baking in the hot So Cal sun, I'll be thrilled. So if you encounter problems installing these doors, hopefully I've provided an idea on how to make it work.At $11.87, Amazon's special deal price, it's woth buying. At it's normal price of $22 - $25, I would definitely evaluate other brands to see if the installation is any better.

Works for our little pup!
Works great for our little pup, was fairly easy to install, took about 15 minutes. I apply some clear sealant around the frame to help keep it secure.

Install on a taunt Flyscreen!!!
This product is just what you want! Works a Treat!!! 👍 The main issue is installing it on a taunt fly screen, otherwise it will flop around! Good value for the price!👍👍👍

PETSAFE SCREEN DOOR DOGGY DOOR
This is my review of the PetSafe Pet Screen Door.Spring is here and once again the pets are wanting out. Then back in, then out................ The screen door is getting quite the workout as is our nerves.I wish PetSafe had this in a medium (was not available, ANYWHERE) size but it works just okay for Fido and Kitty. Install today was super easy and took all of about 15 minutes. Right now we are doing training on the pets with door taped open for them and then once they have that down, the doggy door position comes down too. There may be a bit of a tricky part to the install. If your door screen is nylon, then use a designated groove (see manual) in the frame of the doggy door. However there is a second pictured groove and that is for use if your door screen is metal. Very self explanatory and easy.Recommended.UPDATE: May 17, 2018The door has required 4 removal/replace to adjust and repair. Today the dog came through all excited (doorbell) and took the door right off the screen! The first install I did was too low despite holding down the cat and dog to measure shoulder height. Lots of scratches later, I had to move the door up 1.5 inches which is now better. I think it is as good as it will be now.UPDATE: June 1, 2018 The door keeps popping out of the screen so will try some tiny bolts I have to retain the door or better yet, install an acrylic piece along the base of the patio screen door to strengthen the whole install.UPDATE: June 19, 2018 HUGE THANKS to fellow reviewer Olivia. It was her review that suggested using screws to clamp the two halves together. The screen door fell apart AGAIN yesterday so got some tiny 6/32 hex nuts and bolts. Drilled a 1/8 inch hole in 6 places around the door and able to tighten it down really well. This will cure the issue.
