Great textbook for drawing students
Well written and illustrated. Very useful as a textbook for drawing students! Covers tools to texture to perspective and portraits. As an Art teacher and parent I appreciate that the anatomy lessons are discreet (not fully anatomical) as using it to teach children.

Not sure this is for complete beginners
As someone who grew up drawing stick figures, I had high hopes for this book being able to teach me to draw. I have been water coloring for a year now, and I wanted to work on sketching skills to help plan out my paintings. It started off simple enough, with sketching out the different kinds of cloth folds and learning about shading. However, the artist TELLS you where and how to shade in those examples. In the next section, you’re asked to draw some everyday objects by breaking down its geometric patterns. This is much more challenging, and the skill level seems to jump an extra level inbetween the first set of exercises and this one. Then it goes right into faces, which are the hardest thing to draw, in my opinion. I will glean as much as I can from this, but my honest review is that this book is geared toward people who already have a rudimentary knowledge of drawing, OR those who may be naturally gifted in this area, and just need a little guidance. I need a book that would be a level under this one.

A wonderful book!!
Oh this is an excellent book i highly recommend it. Really helped me to understand drawing a rose gave step by step instructions. I have purchased other books but this is 100% the best ever.
