Solid unit but instructions are super confusing
This is a solid unit and now that we have it installed and adjusted I am happy with it. However the instructions about the adjustments (sweep, backstop, etc) were really confusing. I guess the world of door closers is a world where they have lots of jargon. I wish they just labeled the adjustments as "opening resistance, closing resistance, latching speed" etc.... my contractor and I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to adjust the speed of the opening of the door and finally we had to contact Yale customer support. So it's OK and we will see how it lasts but I'm not loving the initial experience and probably would not buy it again.

good spring, hope it holds
I will write another review to see how its holding up, the cheap ones usually start leaking after about 6 months.

Well-made, easily adjustable, very happy with purchase.
This is clearly a solid unit. It has been working well since installed several weeks ago.I ordered it after wasting time and effort on useless hinge-mounted springs. It's more expensive, but worth it.This one has many adjustments: for 2 different parts of the arc of opening, also for opening vs closing, also for speed, tension and damping. This was important, because the door is lightweight, with glass panels. With the range of spring tension, I expect this closer would be fine on heavy doors, too.Because we mounted it on an interior door, we had planned to paint it white to match the door. However, now that we see it, the brushed-metal appearance is fine.It can be mounted in different ways to suit the door, and comes with hardware for different mounting types. As with anything, make sure you measure twice before drilling holes.
