GET THIS ONE! MUCH MORE SUCTION POWER THAN "REGULAR" SIZE AND/OR AFTERMARKET!
This is a OEM Garmin suction mount, it comes in a Garmin retail box. But it is much better than the 'standard' OEM Garmin suction mount that is included with a Garmin GPS. This one has a 7.0cm cup-diameter; the standard suction mount has a 5.4cm cup-diameter. Also, this one has a post that is a bit longer and the whole unit is of a more solid and more sturdy construction. Garmin sells it as an add-on accessory to be used with the larger 7" GPS units to provide them with 'extra holding power.'But this suction mount will fit almost all Garmin GPS units, new and old alike, as almost all of them mount to this standardized 17.2mm diameter swivel ball. My unit is a Garmin nüvi 255W (in the product line-up back in 2010) and the swivel ball fits the unit perfectly. Nice and snug, but still swivels well.I've used the 'regular'-sized mounts for the last decade, since I bought the GPS unit, and I can tell you that this 'large' suction mount has a ton more holding power; I could feel it even as I initially mounted it on the windshield. My experience in owning no less than six of the 'regular'-sized mounts over that decade -- some OEM Garmin, some third-party aftermarket -- is that they barely last two years before the suction efficacy totally fails. My guess is that eventually the suction cup warps (from sun or heat or popping off/on or whatever) just enough so it can no longer hold a seal. But I've got a feeling this large one is going to hold up longer. We'll see.UPDATE: It lasted about 13 months before it started refusing to stay suctioned-up to the glass. Every morning I would come to the car and it had fallen off. Before that, though, it was rock-solid on the glass from Day 1 -- much, much better than all the smaller non-OEM ones I've owned. Take note I am in the Southwest and this suction cup saw service through a VERY hot summer, many days over 110 degrees. That may have accelerated its demise. I bought another one, we'll see how that one goes.ASIDE: Other things I have learned about living with these suction cups:(1) The ones with the clear suction cups hold well but will turn into goop under heat and run down your windshield and drip onto to your dashboard.(2) You CAN 'shim' a loose Garmin swivel ball with a ring/halo of electrical tape. It's an imperfect & aggravating solution, but it will keep the GPS from drooping/flopping face-down and will hold it to any adjusted position.(3) If you want to try to 'glue' your suction cup to your windshield, the best substance I have found to use for that is Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant. It's about $7 a tube at most auto stores. If you apply not-too-much not-too-little around the diameter of the suction cup as you mount it to the windshield, it WILL extend the life/hold of the mount and it won't turn into goo. But the silicone is a pain-in-the-butt to remove from the windshield when the time comes, requiring multiple applications of lighter fluid plus a lot of initial loosening then scraping with a single-edge razor blade. YMMV.

Perfect in every way.
I had to buy this part for my Garmin DriveSmart 76. The part was missing in the packaging of my Garmin DriveSmart 76 purchase. It can happen. I was refunded for the missing part without asking when I had called only to request the part to be sent. Instead, they refunded me and showed me the part I needed and so I ordered it and got it like the next day or two. I love my Garmin DriveSmart 76 and this is the suction cup that fits it. Recommend purchase.

Huge improvement over the standard mount that came with my GPS
I have been dissatisfied with the original Garmin mount that came with my 7 inch GPS since I first bought the unit 3 years ago. I was surprised to see that the mount that came with it was the same size as the mount for my previous 5 inch GPS. Far too often, the GPS and mount would fall from the windshield into my lap, or onto the floor while I was driving. It became even less effective over the years, even with careful cleaning. This new mount is a big improvement in design, as well as a more sticky suction pad (perhaps merely because it is new). The new suction pad is 7cm in diameter, compared to the original one which was 5.4cm in diameter. The calculated surface area comparison is dramatic: 38.4cm vs. 17.0cm, or more than TWICE the surface area for the new suction pad. Please see my attached photos for comparison. The mounting post for the GPS is also longer to allow for clearance of the 7 inch GPS off of the windshield. My old one had not really been a problem in that regard, however, I appreciate the projection off of the windshield which brings the GPS just a bit closer to me for more comfortable usage.PRO: Large surface area for the suction pad, sticky material, long mounting postCON: Requires more storage space when not in use

This should be standard.
I've never owned a GPS that wouldn't begin falling off of the windshield within a week of installation, where you'll spend the rest of your life licking a thumb, or rubbing alcohol and pushing hard praying it will stay back on as soon as the sun comes out. I drive for a living, so it becomes quite the impediment.I've been using this for 2, maybe 3 months now? Can't complain, it works.. There not a whole list of pros or cons, it either sticks or it starts to fall down. This wasn't isn't falling down. So, its either 1 or 5 stars. Its 5 stars in my book.Price? Lets be real, it shouldn't be costing as much as it does for a piece of plastic and spring. $14? For a reference point, you can buy a 128 Gigabyte SD memory card for the same price or a 2 pack of rechargeable flashlights. There are multiple GPS mounts on Amazon that come *2* of them for 8-9$. Paying 70% more for the Garmin Logo is unfortunate.

Good adherence to window
Works much better than the generic ones which always fall off the windows in a short period of time.

Garmin specific ball size, works great!
I lost the one that came with my Garmin GPS map unit (Drive61), so bought this identical replacement. It will stick to your windshield for days on end! No issues. Works great!Price was reasonable, and of course as soon as ai bought this I found the original. No matter. Now I have a spare!
