The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody But Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass

I admit - I'm an avid fan of Bill Maher.Guy is funny and sincere. He speaks about issues as they are, no sugar added. You might like it or not, but facts are facts and he makes them fun!This book is a collection of some of his NEW RULES. If you've seen the show you already know what they are, if you didn't...WHY YOU DIDN'T??? Go on YouTube or something and check them out!As a book it works very well, but I miss watching him and seeing his reaction. It adds to the overall experience but even in written form, it is worth having in your collection.If you're a dumba** creationist or you think that global warming is a fairy tale, this book is written FOR YOU. It will give you insight in truth and eventually, it will raise your IQ and you might start even getting some of the jokes inside. By the 3rd or 4th reading, you should be a proper human being with at least average IQ.WARNING: Some of following may occur:* You might lose your religion (it is a good thing, trust me) and became an atheist and/or liberal.* You might stop buying all the cr*p that you've been fed by Republican party* You might experience raise in your IQ (as mentioned before). Don't be alarmed, that is also a good thing* You might want to smoke pot. Dunno if it's good or not, I'm not quite a fan, but hey, Bill has lots of fun :)* You might laugh quite a lotIn the end, all I can say is that I wish that Bill Maher lives a long and fruitful life and that he finally decides to have some offspring so his genes don't die out. He's too valuable for that.As for book, BUY IT! :)

Probably one of Bill Maher's funnier books and the wit is really exceptional. The biggest problem I have with this book isn't really a problem at all--it was so funny and "right on the money" that I finished it in one sitting. I like to make a book last a few days, at least! And don't pay any attention to the one star ratings you see in these reviews because they're from Bible-thumping Ann Coulter-humping right-wingers who didn't read the book but hate Maher so much for being a left-wing unapologetic atheist that they'll do whatever it takes to malign him. If you don't find humor in Bill Maher, then you've got no sense of humor whatsoever whether you're a Democrat or a Republican. Now...this is probably the wrong forum for a complaint that has nothing to do with the book's content, but it's ridiculously high priced for a Kindle. Yes, the book is great. And yes, I wish I'd just gone ahead and spent the extra $2 and bought the hardcover. Saving a lousy $2.00 to read a poorly formatted Kindle version just isn't worth it to me. I have no idea what happened to their $9.99 promise for best-sellers, but e-books aren't going to last if the price on them continues to creep up while the price of hard copies continues to drop. UPDATE: I see they've dropped the price to $9.99, so that sort of makes my complaint a non-issue now, but why did it take so long?

I am an avid fan of Bill Maher, so my review is going to admittedly be somewhat biased. There are always some hilarious observations in compilations of Maher that will find you laughing out loud while also realizing either a sad truth about our society or coming to grips that you've never thought of these issues in much depth before. Maher's bitter satiric style is certainly not for all and most certainly skews more liberally. However, this set of New Rules doesn't really pile on the GOP as much as his other books have done. They are more commentaries of a general nature.If you are a weekly watcher of his show, you will find yourself remembering many of these rules and enjoy the stroll down memory lane. The highlights are most definitely the longer, more developed essays on major topics that are worth rereading and having copies of to send to your friends as Maher makes very compelling arguments in that last segment of his show before signing off.Not Maher's greatest work, but something Maher fans like myself will definitely enjoy reading and highlighting.

I got this book delivered this morning by the local delivery company after pre-ordering it a while ago. Amazon is great about getting pre-ordered books to you on the day of release and they didn't let me down this time.I opened the book at about 11am and didn't put it down until I finished it just before dinner. I have to say I laughed out load on nearly every page, which is quite a rarity for me. Maher simply has an amazing way about him when it comes to his commentaries. He has the ability to seize the essence of a situation, find the humor and then make fun of the subject from all sides.The book contain numerous "New Rules" including some that never aired for various reasons, and longer essays that have all aired previously. Since I don't get the network his show is on, this is a great way to catch up on his humor. Some of the common subjects he writes about are politicians, Americans and food, airlines and airplane behavior as well as a host of other varied subjects.While some of the "Rules" are a tad dated, the book is still spot on target and very funny. Even the preface was completely funny and well worth reading. If you like political comedy, especially from someone who spares no one,then this book will be perfect for you!

I proper laughed out loud ,Bill Maher is a legend . Guess how I found Bill Maher? By stumbling on the Fox news fails on youtube and after laughing out hysterically at bill O'Reilly yes that numpty (I'm British by the way) . Bill Maher appeared on a clip and he actually spoke my thoughts out loud (not literally) lol but yes I have watched all his clips and omg he's so right and so funny with it . This book is worth a read , it can also be used as a teaching tool too .

Funny yet informative and extremely easy to read. Finished it in 2 days and almost re-read it.

When you read this it's easy to hear his voice. Dry, witty and biting all in one. He's a pot head too which makes him alright in my book man.

This book is basically a repeat of new rules through the years. some you'll probably laugh out loud while reading. Some you may recognize if your a maher fan. overall it was pretty good,
