Q: Why is the dot between the 12 and 14 missing on the bezel?

Not missing on my bezel on my Rolex GMT Master II 'Batman", blue and black bezel !From the picture on Amazon you can clkearl see that the dot between 12-14 is missing In that picture they are showing a defective RolexNever buy a new Rolex from anyone but an authorized dealer..Trust me, I own 4 Rolexes and am a watch collectorand my daily watch is that exact watch and does have the 12-14 dotIt's not a bad picture..the dot between 12-14 IS missing!The spot where it should be is there but not the dot and I do not know if it is glued on or otherwise affixed or painted and baked on with the ceramic bezelDisclaimer:I disavow any liability for the above statements.. I am neither a watch dealer or seller...simply my personal opinion and most certainly I could be mistaken. But I doubt it!

No, be very careful that the watches which are purchased are actually NEW and not used refurbished which are sold as NEW.

Q: what engine is this and what year was it manufactured?

If by engine you mean movement it is a automatic )self winding) movement. This particular color bezel came out only about four years ago.
