Umbrella Swift Yarn Winder, Wooden (Birch) Hand Operated Bobbin Winder Holder

This is the first swift I've ever purchased, and I'm glad I picked this one. It's incredibly easy to "assemble" -- all that's needed is to screw on the clamp on one end -- and it works like a charm. I especially like the fact that it's made of wood instead of cheap plastic. I highly recommend it.

The screw holder at the base (which affixed the winder to a table) has no threads to hold it the screw clamp in place. After the swift kept flying off the table I have gone back to winding by hand until I can get the base redone. Too much money for a product that can't be used.

This is such a beautiful piece of craftsmanship this looks looks like a artist made this it is beautifully made. I have too much skeins of yarn that needs to be used.

Maybe I need to sand it? It makes loud noises from the wood on wood contact. A bit irritating but I'm guessing that as I continue to use it and as the wood wears down it'll be quieter. Also the twist clamp that helps with the opens of the swift often comes loose on me causing my hanks to fall into a puddle. Something to keep an eye out for!

Squeaks a bit but not too bad

I love this swift. The only thing is that I find it difficult to place the yarn on while adjusting the tension to hold it. I almost need another person helping. It moves easily and is easy to adjust. I have wound many cakes from this swift and it still works great!

I had a wooden swift in the past. Made in Denmark. Beautiful, worked seamlessly, burned in my house fire.This looked the same. NOT. It does not accommodate a thick table, the tightening mechanism is feeble and inefficient. The umbrella itself does not slide up with one hand, wich is often required when using with baller. I even waxed the rod to aid in slippage to no avail. Not worth donating. Go with another model by another company. Minus 5 stars.

Used for the first time last night, on my first skein half way through it kept falling, the screw in thing is wooden threads but I did expect it to screw tight to the table but it really doesn't. I am getting my husband to cut that part off and figure out how to mount the top part to something else to make it sturdy and work because that part is lovely and works fabulous!

Produit retourné, element a surveillé le pas de vis en bois de l'attache vissait dans le vide. Je ne crois pas que cette article soit solide la base etant en bois et taillé peu fendre a tout moment en serrant trop fort.

Disappointed in the construction. The wood "bolt" split. And it won't clamp properly to the table. Very wobbly. Wish I'd bought one with metal fixtures.
