great well written story
Very authentic telling of a boy’s journey from a spoiled rich ego, to a well rounded young man. All the characters are believable as well as the journey Deputy Marshall Orin Chantry and this spoiled rich son of an indulgent Father find themselves on. I highly recommend reading this book.

Orin Chantry: Bounty Hunter: The Hardship Trail
I didn't much care for Mike Mackessy's dimestore cowboys' 2-book Orin Chantry series. Characters were hollow, their grit shallow and see-through.

Settle In
This story of a hardened, western U.S. Deputy Marshal reluctantly teaching a spoiled, wealthy teen how to live life in the West and to be a man. Enjoyable and thrilling.

Disjointed
Interesting storyline, with minimal editing issues. But the author keeps jumping around between characters and time-line. Switching weaponry between cap & ball dragoon pistols to colt 44-40 cartridge firing rifles and pistols confuses the reader. Either lack of continuity or writing at different times. Almost like repeating himself for no reason. Second book of a supposed series.

Book review for Orin Country 1 & 2
These two books had a good story line..just too confusing to try to keep up...Too much flashback..flash forward. Something made it confusing...

First person reads are hard to read
Very slow reading, not action-packed enough. I try not to read first person stories. I read both books to be fair to the author.

Not bad
Didn't expect to enjoy the 2 books, but I did. Not sure if series complete but will keep looking. I wasn't too sure of your writing style as previous books I read were kinda stifling. I did enjoy the mishmash story lines in these 2 books, even with inconsistencies I gave 5*.

the best I’ve read since Loise laMore
If you like the old westerns then this is a must. About men who would do anything for money. About absolute greed.Life is cheaper than a warm beer.I read it in 2 nights, just couldn’t stop.I enjoyed every word.
