I FINALLY (7 mos after purchasing SiliNot) got around to making “picky pads” for my kids to try. Instant HIT! They’re already asking for another and other versions. I’m so glad I didn’t waste money on the one time use, pre-made versions. The smell is weird. Like cheap cleaning solution? Artificial lemon-y. It’s not unbearable, but also not pleasant. Mine melted after about 3 rounds of 8-10 seconds, but I found it to be more effective to placing the tiny findable items, to warm it 2 more times (I sure didn’t pull out a thermometer). I bought resin molds for these, thin ones from Amazon-made it too easy for my 6 and 10 yo, but a thicker mould from Dollar Tree worked their fine motor skills better! Made the search longer too! Color is pretty vibrant. Easy instructions. I used a glass measuring cup to warm and a wooden craft stick to stir. I haven’t re-warmed yet, but plan to soon. I’ll update the review if re-melt has issues.

I bought this SiliNOT! to make my own reusable picky pad. This SiliNOT worked perfectly for what I needed. It is easy to use although I will say that even though I followed the heating directions (heated 20 sec and let sit 30 before heating again) the bottle overflowed in the microwave on the third heat cycle. It was easy enough to cleanup, which you should let it solidify first then peel it right off and put it back - way easier! I barely put a dent in this bottle making one picky pad that is about 3"x5." This stuff is not cheap for such a small project so if this is your purpose you might just buy one from someone else unless you really want to choose your beads (my opinion on this might change after I reheat this pad 30+ times). I have reheated it 4 times so far and it works great! This SilkNOT would be excellent for any kind of mold making needs, and it's awesome that it's reusable. It cures pretty quickly, and popping it in the fridge helps reduce the time. My picky pad is small and thin so it cures in less than an hour but I imagine larger molds would take more time. It does have a bit of a smell, even when cured but it doesn't bother me and doesn't stay on my hands, even after holding it for much of the day.

This is such a weird but fun thing. It comes ground up in a bag (wish it was resealable, that would be a great improvement tbh) and not a block. It's like cornmeal, but if cornmeal was made out of rubber. It smells vaguely fruity. I want to say blue raspberry, but probably not. Works pretty well! I used cornstarch as a mold release and it was really effective. Pros: reusable, so I can trial molds without worrying about wasting material. Much tougher than I expected, Stiffens up really well and hasn't torn while i'm trying to pull a casting out of it. Cons: If you cast something white/light colored/clear in a mold made of silinot, your casting will be tinted blue. (Not an issue if you paint things afterwards). It's not super great at filling in the most fine of recessed details and did leave some air bubbles.

Couldit be that simple? Just melt some blue stuff in the radar range, stir it around, maybe zap it a bit more, then pour it over your master (appreciating the distinctive aroma), let it cool, and you really, honest to god, have a mediocre mold, but one suitable for multiple castings with epoxy, after which it can be remelted and reused. The big downside is surface roughness, and limited durability (they don't like solvents or moisture or heat, but heat-gun can be used (with great care) to smooth the inside, geometry willing. Permits items that would be far too costly to make a silicone mold with to be molded for cheap and then reused. You can use an index card and smooth surface to contain a pour around the workpiece.

When I saw this product, I really wanted to like it. Being able ot reuse silicone and save some money on big projects was such a great idea. The execution of the product is lacking, melting it down takes so long, to the point I spent nearly 5 minutes just going through the microwave and mix cycle trying to get all of the chunks melted and smooth. On so many occasions, because of how this flows, it would leave large bubbles against the object that needed molding, or if I only needed a small bit for a small item, the chunk of unmelted silicone would block the opening. This material is also not compatible with many resins. I had it reject a number of products from the Alumilite line, which is the type I use the most. When it rejected these resins, I had to toss that entire portion away because there is such a high chance of uncured resin sticking around, and that cannot go into the microwave or back into the bottle.

I have extensive experience with mold making and I've tried a bunch of different mold-making materials, but SiliNOT! really stands out. The smell is really not that bad, which is a big plus for me since I often work in small spaces. Just read the instructions about how to melt it and you shouldn't have any problems. I've used it for a couple of different things so far. My kids and I made custom toy molds with it. We melted it in the microwave, poured it over a toy model, and let it cool in the fridge. The mold came out perfect, even had the small details and no bubbles. Another fun thing was making molds to create dice with epoxy. I wanted to make a custom set for a game night, and this made it super easy. The molds captured all the numbers and details perfectly. After pouring the epoxy, the dice turned out amazing and looked professionally made. Overall, I’m really happy with this stuff. It’s flexible, easy to use, and I can reuse it over and over. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

The mixture smells like citrus! This bag makes about 6 4-inch picky pads. It is quick to heat up and quick to set! (Work quickly) Great value considering one bag costs as much as one reusable picky pad. Softer than silicone which really helps my dermatillomania. Another review said it wasn't worth it for picky pad use but I disagree. This has been a great purchase.

Straightforward product, delivered just as expected. I was able to make a solid dog mold for treats using this. It was my first time doing this and it came out perfect, hassle free. Would absolutely recommend. Directions were easy to follow, cleanup was easy and now I have a custom mold.

Seriously, I’ve been telling everyone I know about this because I don’t know how this isn’t the best contribution to science and technology in forever. I use it to make picky-pads with beads and it’s easy to work with while melted. When it’s set, my picky pads come out solid and great to use. It’s easy to clean up if you make a mess while it’s melted. It’s sticky but just wait til it sets and peel it off! So satisfying! It also smells lovely too, kind of citrusy!!
