I'm a 66 year old with arthritic hands. I got these no-tie shoe lace buckles for my working-in-the-garden athletic shoes. Being lazy, I usually kick off the shoes wihtout untieing them, and then just jam my foot in and hope for the best when putting them back on. I'm trying not to crush the heel when doing that, but find it works best if I leave the laces a little loose. I find it hard to untie and re-tie the laces, and I don't care for standard slip ons. These lace buckles allow me to loop the laces through to slide the laces loose and retighted them with relative ease. Like other reviewers, I found the written instructions to be nealy useless, but fortunately there is a instructional video on the Amazon product page, which I also found easier to follow. These lace buckles do the job, but they look a little like an old-woman's shoe buckle. My wife immediately made fun of me, but I don't care since I'm only working in the yard. Clever design, just a little unsightly.

I got this for my 8 years old son to help him quickly put on/off his shoes without damaging them (he does not typically undo his laces and ends up breaking the back lip of his shoes by pushing his foot too hard in them).This set comes with 8 buckles (4 black, 4 translucent) which will serve you for 4 different pairs of shoes.My observations[+] they "work" as advertised, allow you to loop the laces through and (fairly) easily open and close them.[+] You get 4 pairs for a reasonable/affordable price[+] I like that they come in different colors. I plan to use the translucent pieces for white sneakers, the black piece blends in with the black sneakers (see pictures)[+] They are reasonably easy to setup, but I recommend you skip the paper instruction (that I found incomplete/confusing) and instead watch the little video on the Amazon product page, it was more clear to follow.Some cons:[-] The plastic is pretty big and does not look particularly good, if you're "style" conscious you may not like these too much...[-] I'm not a fan of how the lace "loops" remain on top of the shoes. I would have preferred a design where the laces become "invisible" on top of the shoe for a neater look.[-] The flat laces don't seem to slide as easily through the buckle when sliding up and down. The mechanism still works fine but not as smoothly as I'd hoped. When closing the buckle by pulling on each lace, it also requires some strength to tighten them up, my kid was able to close them but I had to secure them a bit more by pulling harder on the laces. I will have to try with round laces to see if they're easier to use.
