Fantastic little Workhorse when paired right.
Why did you choose this product over others?: Decided on this CPU for a new build for 2 reasons: First, the onboard GPU. It's only a 740M yet enough grunt to get into your O/S or play a few games at stupidly low settings. It's primary use is as a backup if the main GPU ever has any issues. Dual monitor options are also there if needed. Second reason for this CPU is it's being paired with an Intel ARC B580. Due to the limitations of the CPU controller & the B580 only running at PCIe 4.0 x 8 this CPU is ideal. I'm also not planning on having an array of M.2 SSD's as this will also eat into available lanes off the CPU so BE AWARE of that. It's also super quiet, low power draw & comes with a fan/cooler. Thermal paste is already applied to the base of the Fan Heat-sink so no need to mess about with that (unless you're nervous and want to dab more onto the CPU). Max Memory speed is "supposed to be" DDR5 @ 5200mt/s. I'm actually running it @ 5600mt/s (dual channel ~ 16gb per channel) and it's fine. I did try 6000mt/s as the memory modules I'm using support that speed but the CPU didn't like that and kept rebooting. Memory & CPU are happy at it's current speed so I'll leave it as that. As It's for a cheap-ish gaming build, I've not had any issues. ARC GPU seems to love running with this CPU & I'm getting a lot higher FPS than all the reviews would suggest otherwise. Works for what I've set it up for - just be aware of the CPU onboard PCIe & memory limitations and you'll be fine.

Meets the specification and worked first time on switch on
No problem with this product both in fitting to the board, always a nervous time and firing up the computer once installed. The specification as published is met and I am more than happy with my home build Asus using this processor. I didn't want a high powered gaming machine but the list of specs available at the appropriate price seems good.

Great value CPU
Amazing value CPU for the money, and the APU isn't that bad either to be honest.

Ryzen 5 8500G - Overall not bad processor!
8500G is a fantastic processor, and overall performs quite well for the price. I appreciate it, has its drawbacks such as less PCIE lanes. But from my experience, hasn’t really impacted the performance of my GPU or the SSD. I will say this for me is a stop gap processor, and longevity could be an issue in a few years. But in the here and now, I couldn’t recommend it enough. For the price as well, with a decent IGPU it’s not a bad deal. Obviously, if you can I would recommend the 8600g or the 7600/x but I’m happy, with what it does and how it performs.

Great CPU
I totally upgraded my system and this was the CPU I went with and I couldn't be happier. I went from Ryzen 3600 and this 8500G just blows it away. If looking for decent priced AM5 upgrade from previous AM4 then I would recommend this because its really good chip very fast plus if you are on budget it has decent integrated graphics so don't need a GPU straight away.

Decent little APU, not super strong, but able to handle some fairly cpu intense games. 7 days to die (with upscaling and frame generation) is pretty playable at high settings (1080P) Definitely some artifacts from the frame gen/upscaling, but playable. For the price it’s not bad, but it is not a stand in for a dedicated GPU. Unless you play at low settings. Good for budget builds, and if you add a dedicated GPU it seems to perform fairly well if paired with a solid ram set. bonus perk, good for troubleshooting GPU display issues.

I built a new PC for my grandmother-in-law using the AMD Ryzen 5 8500G, upgrading her from a 2400G. She specifically wanted a new system that could run Windows 11, and this chip was a perfect choice. Compared to the 2400G, everything feels faster and more responsive — programs open quicker, multitasking is smoother, and the integrated graphics are a big step up for video streaming and light tasks. Since the 8500G has strong built-in graphics, there was no need for a separate GPU, which keeps the build simple and cost-effective. The CPU also comes with a stock cooler included, which is a nice bonus. It’s perfectly fine for everyday use, though you can always upgrade later if you want something quieter or more efficient. Setup was straightforward, and pairing it with an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory gives her plenty of future upgrade options. For now, it already handles everything she needs and should stay useful for years. Pros: Noticeable upgrade from older APUs like the 2400G Windows 11 ready out of the box Smooth performance with integrated graphics Comes with a stock cooler No GPU required for everyday use Cons: Requires AM5 motherboard and DDR5 RAM (adds to cost) Overall, the Ryzen 5 8500G was the ideal upgrade for her — Windows 11 compatibility, snappy everyday performance, included cooler, and no hassle with a dedicated graphics card.
