A sort of prequel sequel
I loved the first film and this one ties in with it perfectly, answering alot of previously unanswered questions with plenty of jumps and scares on the way.The effects were pretty amazing particularly a part in the film where the house seems to almost melt away, very silent hill in likeness. And the ghosts literally scared the hell out of me!.The acting was truly realistic which made you feel the sadness and terror the family were going through and the younger versions of the grandmother and Elise were truly believable.Without giving too much away you find out more about Josh (the father) and the history of the very scary 'bride in black' and the suspense and your attention is kept all the way through. The story unfolds like any good one should at a good pace with exciting visuals and scares aplenty to wet your appetite.I must admit I jumped out of my seat on a few occasions which, for a hardened horror fan is difficult to admit and I will definitely be sleeping with the lights on tonight.

:) good film
First things first, if you like the first movie then the chances are you're going to love this one, however, if part 1 didn't set your world ablaze, then neither will this as it's very similar in style and substance. The movie picks up right where the first film left off, it gives you the back story of the family and why they are going through the hauntings and terrifying happenings within their lives. I won't go into too much detail of the storyline/plot on this one as it really would spoil everything, but safe to say, it's one creepy and quite scary ride. The style of the film is very similar to the 1st, it's atmospheric, tense, has you on the edge of your seat for the most part and has an eerie feel throughout the film. There are plenty of scares, plot twists, surprises and a-ha moments, and the acting from pretty much the same cast is fantastic. The Director James Wan (Saw, Final Destination, Dead Silence, The X-Files, The conjuring) is fast becoming one of Hollywoods best horror directors and he shows why once again here. He is able to tell a good horror story and make the viewer feel nervous and on edge throughout, something which isn't easy to do in todays "nothing scares us" society. So to sum up, Insidious chapter 2 is a very well made and genuinely scary film with plenty of jumps and scares, it's easily as good as the first film and is a must see if you like horror/ghost stories. It's not packed full of blazing action or littered with off putting special effects, but neither is it ever dull or boring and it moves alone at a decent pace and never loses your attention.

Just as great as the first chapter!
Given I really wanted to know what happened next after seeing the first film I was glad to see all of the cast were back for the next installment. I was surprised but pleased that Ty had not shot up in height or changed greatly despite the fact it had been two years between the first and second film.Again there were twists and turns which linked to what we had seen in the first film...those I really liked and things clicked into place in a strange sort of way. That family went through one hell of a few weeks/months thank goodness it was only fiction!

Way better than the first insidious
Love this movie. Watch it straight away when it arrived. The first insidious was terrible but they definitely made up for it with this one. Very good. What ruined the first one was the near the end the movie was great right up until they moved house and she seen the wee ghost boy, it had the potential to be great but then It got stupid! Aleese talking to them through a gas mask and the spirit being a red face devil with a half goat body seriously what the hell?! Glad the second one didn't go that way.

Insidious :Chapter 2
-Insidious: Chapter 2 is a 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan. It is a sequel to Insidious and the second installment in the Insidious film series. The film stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne reprising their roles as Josh and Renai Lambert, a husband and wife who seek to uncover the secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.-After the financial success of Insidious in April 2011, discussions for a sequel soon followed-The film received the title of Insidious: Chapter 2 because it is a direct continuation of the first installment. However, the tone of the film was to be more grounded than in the first film, with Wan citing his work on The Conjuring as an influence to how he and Whannell approached Insidious: Chapter 2. "I pulled things from Insidious that I applied to The Conjuring, and what I learned from The Conjuring I applied to Insidious 2," said Wan. "So for me, I feel like it's a cumulative filmmaking experience that I've gathered over the years-The film was released September 13, 2013. A prequel film, Insidious: Chapter 3, was released on June 5, 2015.--Critical response:-Review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes sampled 110 reviews and judged 38% of the reviews to be positive. The site's consensus reads: "Insidious: Chapter 2 is decidedly short on the tension and surprises that made its predecessor so chilling."- Metacritic, another review aggregator, assigned the film a weighted average score of 40 out of 100, based on 30 reviews from mainstream critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".-- "the scares are mostly very scary indeed, and that means the film does its job." -- "artfully eerie" cinematography work of John R. Leonetti and the "pervasively unsettling atmosphere" constructed by sound designer and editor Joe Dzuban. Foundas further wrote that "where so many sequels seem like mere remakes of their predecessors, with bigger budgets and less imagination, Insidious: Chapter 2 feels like a genuine continuation of characters we enjoyed getting to know the first time around, and wouldn’t at all mind returning to again."-- "After the pleasurable free fall into old-fashioned nightmare artistry that was last summer's The Conjuring, this busy-yet-dull sequel feels like Wan robotically flexing his manipulation of fright-film signposts, an exercise more silly than sinister." --- "Setting aside the movie’s tediously lame dialogue, self-conscious performances and frequently predictable scares, the narrative’s compulsively shifting chronology intermittently manages to engage, although it does little to obscure the distracting shortcomings of both plot and character development.-Source Wikipedia-
