Horrible smell, internal rust and pitting
Do Not Buy This Thing....I've been drinking water from this for about a week. It was fine at first, but then a horrid smell began emanating from the inside. I finally shone a flashlight on the inside and can see what looks like either pitting holes or black specks in the inside metal? Mold? Rust? Honestly, I'm unsure, as it's difficult to completely see the inside, but whatever it is, it isn't normal. There's also rust stains appearing on the inside threads of the neck of the canteen. I've only owned this hunk of junk for one week, and I have been washing it out with dish soap and water between uses. I've no idea what the smell is. It's indescribable...all I can say is that it smells really, really bad. I have no clue what I've been drinking in as I've been using this canteen. Stay far away from this product.

A great addition to your gear
The canteen and cup are well made and the cover is accurate for Marines during WW2. Definitely a good reproduction piece for the price.
