Compact, fine tip, and works great
The unit is compact and easy to handle, with a fine tip that gives good control. I tried it with the heavy thread I use for leather projects, and it cut through without any issue. So far, it works exactly as described and feels reliable. Great tool for leatherwork and other DIY projects.

Does what it says
Wish had this when I was in uniform, easier then trying to use a lighter. I believe I’ll save money not having to purchase lighters, because this is rechargeable. Now I find myself looking for loose strings to burn off.So far it works GREAT!

Love this thing, first one was defective but company fixed the issue.
*updated review*After returning my defective item the company reached out to me and sent me a replacement that works. I really appreciate them correcting the issue. Happy customer!Worked amazing for a month. I used it pretty heavily during that time and was so happy with it until it just stopped taking a charge. I’d plug it in and then the light on back would show charging is complete. Then I would try to use it and would work for a second then blue light would flash like the battery was dead. I literally had one day left in my return window to send it back, thank god. But this thing seems to have a record of stopping taking charges after 30 days as other reviews state. Manufacturer needs to fix this issue!!

EDITED: “Just this one time, BELIEVE those negative reviews” NEW: Long lasting charge!
Well, yeah, I actually did read the negative comments. But I purchased anyway figuring it was an anomaly. And would you look at that… just a few days after the ‘return window’ closed it stopped working. The first thing was the display. It started flashing. I figured it needed to be charged (although it still had two bars showing on that flashing display). I charged it. Apparently, this product is built to last just until the day after returning would be an option. Imagine that. However, I’m going to pursue a refund because, really, a product that lasts 1 month and 1 day just isn’t cool.UPDATE: Yes, I pursued that refund. I succeeded! However, it wasn’t a full refund because they deducted over $3.00 for ‘damage’. Now that’s an excellent turnaround - blame the victim for their substandard product. Well done.SECOND UPDATE: The company sent me a replacement after they read my review. I told them I would update my review if the replacement thread burner performed like it should. I received the new thread burner 2.5 months ago. I wanted to wait until I had used the product for at least one charge and I wanted to see how well it charged. The charge lasted all this time - 2.5 months and I used it every day and many hours per day. I finally charged it and all is good in the thread burning universe. I changed my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. It would have gotten 5 stars but the on/off button isn’t easy to intuitively get to. It needs to be indented or have a clearly contrasting color.

The most useful little tool I never knew I needed ...
I am constantly using a disposable lighter to sear the edges of ribbons, belts, strapping and trims, etc. It works, but sometimes you wind up with little soot marks from the lighter, and sometimes you have to cut the edge again and restart ... and then one day I saw this pop up in my feed.I'll be honest, when I first saw it I started snickering. "Why not just use a lighter?!" And then I read the reviews and stuff and thought you know what, let's give it a try. If it sucks, I'll send it back.It does not suck. It does exactly what you need to do, with no soot marks, no crooked edges, it just flat out sears off the edges for you (and yes, you can sear two pieces of strapping together with it, as I've tried to show with the photos) ... it's honestly just a useful tool for searing anything you need to sear off without any ugly lighter soot mess. It heats up almost instantly, and works very quickly.Worth every cent. I don't know why I was reluctant to try it, why I thought it would be easier to just continue with the lighters. Now I don't have to buy disposable lighters anymore, either!

Uses With Bead Weaving
Excellent device I've used for burning threads when I add thread in order to lengthen my working thread. Of course, Excellent to burn the end of my working thread that has been hidden in throughout my beaded piece.

Cap does not stay on to protect the burning tip.
I was really looking forward to this item because it really met the needs that I had for my hobby. However, straight out of the box, the top does not stay on. If you hold it upside down, the clear cap/top falls right off. That isn't going to work out because there is no longer any protection to the actual tip of the device. Something that was to be compact and fit in my holly organizer will now have to be stored in the bulky and wasteful big box. If the top/cap/lid or lid could be fixed to stay on, then this is a great item. I was able to get it to charge fully, and it did work, but I haven't been using it because I can't keep the top protected without the large clunky box.
