60667 Refrigerant Recovery Plier

Use this product to remove refrigerant from units without access valves, mainly refrigerators. Works great.

Arrived fast, good quality and works well. The original rubber seal split after a dozen uses. Spent less than a dollar at the local auto parts store to make a better replacement seal out of vacuum line. Working well after 30+ evacuations. Do yourself a favor and lose the lock nut. Totally useless and gets in the way when readjusting seal.

These YJ pliers are intended for refrigerant recovery and evacuating equipment before it goes off to the bone yard, so that is generally all they are used for, but I've also found that when working on window AC's and small domestic refrigeration units that have no service ports, these pliers sometimes come in handy to access a line for refrigerant recovery and even for recharging after repairs are made. They are basically a pair of Vise Grip pliers with a fitting installed that has a sharp needle point and gasket on one end and a 1/4" flare connection for your hose on the other. The gasket that seals them against the tubing gets worn after a while, but thankfully it is replaceable. The needle fitting itself is also replaceable. These are fairly expensive pliers, but if you do a lot of equipment disposal or work on small appliances, you'll probably want to own a pair.

Seriously! If you are going to show a photo of a genuine Vice-Grip with "Made in USA" stamped right into the handle and a Vice-Grip model number cast in the jaws, then sell me that one! If you are selling a made in Taiwan tool then let me know up front and adjust the price accordingly. Anyone who has owned at least one pair of Vice-Grip pliers knows the difference between a real one and a cheap one. Oh, and the allen key to tighten the piercing valve into the pliers is missing. This is a $25 tool at best.

These are well made pliers and easy to use. I have big hands so they were easy to lock and unlock with one hand. The packaging was more than adequate.
