Time-saving tool of tomorrow
It came without any instructions, but the assembly was relatively straightforward.I installed it in the attic of a pole-barn by bolting it to a 6x6 post. I bought mine with the recommended 220lb electric hoist. It works like a charm... saves having to carry stuff up several flights-of-stairs and a narrow/shaky attic ladder.Recommend using two people to install, as it gets a little heavy/unwieldy with the hoist motor attached. Also, make sure the horizontal member is level when you install it. If not, the cable will wear on the end of the hoist motor housing, and not gather smoothly on the drum.

Great quality product
This is a beast. Once mounted this thing is excellent for what I needed it to do. I have it mounted on my barn loft doors frame and it fits perfectly. It was easy to put together and was easy to handle by myself during installation.

WARNING - Unsafe Assembly Shown!
I first assembled this as shown in the pictures and video - All of them show installing both of the silver hinges with their pins facing up so the open ends are on top. The top horizontal beam and bottom angled beam are both then slid down over the upward-facing hinge pins and each secured with a big washer and small cotter pin through a hole in the top of the hinge pin. However, I quickly realized that this is completely unsafe for the top beam/hinge. For the bottom hinge, it's fine because that beam is in compression when loaded and the weight sits down onto that hinge. However, as designed, THE TOP HORIZONTAL BEAM ACTS LIKE A SEESAW (where the angled beam connection point serves as the fulcrum), so when weight is added that pulls down on the far end, the force on the opposite end of the horizontal beam attached to the hinge pin is UP, not down, meaning that the full weight of whatever load you have on this is supported by only the small cotter pin on top of the top hinge. I did a test run assembled as shown, and I watched the back of the top beam shift up on the hinge and only be stopped by the cotter pin. Again, it's just like a seesaw, so the back goes up when the front goes down. If that tiny cotter pin breaks, the whole thing will fall. UNSAFE!!I think turning the upper hinge pin over so it's facing down is much safer since the load will then be supported by the four grade 8 bolts holding the hinge assembly together rather than just a tiny cotter pin.Second, one of the bolts I received had bad threads that were impossible to salvage, even with a die, so I had to use my own replacement grade 8 bolt.Overall, this will work for light loads, but I don't really trust it too much, especially when the manufacturer doesn't understand basic engineering.
