The heating element is great

The pliers are not good for cutting small wire like the wire mash that comes with the kit. You will have to buy a better pair for cutting. This kit comes with 2 smoothing irons, however one of the smoothing irons will not tighten up enough to stay in the welding iron due the diameter of the iron being too small or the screws being to short. Other than the reasons mentioned it is a decent kit to get started in repairng plastic equipment until you get enough experience to buy a nicer kit.

This took me a while to review because it comes with so much.The accessories are of middling quality, but there's so much stuffed into the hard plastic box. Which is, by the way, hard to keep organized because of how much is stuffed into it. You get basically everything you need to do most plastic welding and repair jobs. Your work is going to reflect your skill. So unless you're very experienced or a real smooth operator, don't expect perfection right out of the box. I needed to practice for several hours before I got acceptable results at just one kind of weld. But that's not because of the iron.The iron gets really hot. It will melt any plastics and even some fiberglass - though don't expect it to get deep fusion of fiberglass. But it's plenty hot for deep fusing any plastics I have around the house.

This thing works. The hot iron stand is cheap crap, but overall this kit is great.

The first day my welder paid for itself. I rebuilt my car's headlight assembly( at least $50 from junkyard) then removed my bumper and fixed all broken mounting holes( how much is a bumper?). Cheesy box. Make sure you have good ventilation and wear chemical mask as plastic fumes are probably slightly cancer causing

Used to fix my heavy duty sled for ice fishing, worked like a charm. Paid for itself already!

This is the fiirst kit that ACTUALLY has the extras needed to make certain repairs. Steel mesh and plastic rods are essential! My 3 other kits from different brands weren't as complete as this kit.The only feature that would make it easier is temperature contol when using the smoothing tips. I would recommend buying a set of helping hands to make repairs easier. I tried doing repairs on small parts freehand and disaster ensued.Nice kit. No issues
